Hi macmanboomer, Congrats, that is really cool. I always wanted to haul heavy equipment through out my career, but it never happened. You'll probably have cool stories to tell your grandkids someday, with all the different stuff you'll haul, and where you go. I did some heavy haul when I worked at the asphalt plant, and the trencher dealer , hauled some kinda big dozers and front end loaders. Nothing very far though, long distance, now THAT is a challenge. Take your time, and best of luck.

    macmanboomer Thanks this.

Haul the screening plants 2-3 times a year. keep a couple of 1" ratchet straps with you. when the plants get "broke in" the conveyor belts stretch you will need to tie them in. If you haul a used plant, make sure they run it. shake the hell out it. rocks hide in all the wrong spots. Happy Hauling.

Yeah, we usually haul a lot of new ones but do carry used ones from time to time. Some of the new ones with long belts will have to have a strap to keep them from flapping. I have a couple of 2" straps & will throw one across to catch both side belts with one strap. Shuttled two from the port to our yard today & more tomorrow.

With our company you start out pulling 53' step deck and work your way up from legal loads to oversized loads. Once you prove yourself there you may have he opportunity to move into heavy haul when an opening comes up. For me, pulling step deck I made $60K a year, heavy haul looks like it should be about $75-80K or so.

We are needing more step deck drivers so if you're interested pm me.

In the bay area(California) we pay our drivers 33hr plus benefits. Some of the local construction company drivers are at 36-38hr. Heavy haul is very hard on the body and very strange hrs but running local makes guys the most money. Work 9 months very hard and 3 months kinda off and on. Couple guys I know are doing 90-100k a year.
