This is not the first bad thread for super road service. They have a history of taking advantage of drivers.

I signed up today just so i could warn people about this company. Here's a letter i had to write to my bank describing the events that occurred this past sunday as i am filing a claim with my bank to try and recoup some or all of this money. Forgive me for having to describe things to the nth degree, as i am trying to get the bankers to understand what happened.

Dear Sirs, the purpose of this letter is to formalize my claim and detail the events leading to said claim. On Sunday June 7, 2015 I received a call from my driver advising that our truck was having mechanical issues. The truck is owned by myself, and has authority to operate in the lower 48 states. After several unsuccessful attempts to start the truck, it was apparent that we would need to call for a service truck. I called upon Super Road Service out of Houston TX, phone number DELETED at 9:52AM MST, so that they could send a service truck and try and diagnose and repair the mechanical issue. I provided the dispatcher all the pertinent information as to who we were and where the truck was located. The mechanics arrived at about 11:40 MST and began to troubleshoot the issue. I received a call from the mechanic and was told that it appeared to be a faulty starter and that it would need to be replaced. I gave them the authorization to do so. The service mechanic left to locate a suitable replacement starter. They arrived at 2:37 PM with the replacement part and proceeded to install the new starter. I continued to check in with my driver and was always advised that they were working on the truck. After several hours, I started to become concerned, as service companies charge for the initial service call, parts, and an hourly rate for the mechanics’ service. The hourly rate averages about $100/hour. They installed the starter after about 4 hours, but continued to “work” on the truck as the truck would start smoking electrical wires when the mechanic tried to connect the batteries. He continued to try and troubleshoot the issue, until I received a call at about 6:40PM MST from the mechanic that he could not figure out why the truck was smoking wires and that it appeared that we had an electrical issue. I was told that “they could stay there all night, but that the service call was getting EXPENSIVE and there were no guarantees that they could find the issue. “ At that point I told them that we needed to stop and I would have to rethink what I needed to do. From over 18 years of experience in the transportation industry, I knew that it was time to stop the service call and reconsider my options. The mechanic offered to call a subcontracted tow truck to have us towed to the closest Peterbilt dealer; I told them I would have to think about it and would let their dispatcher know when he called to “bill me out” for the service call. I received a call from their dispatcher and was told that the total was going to be $1442.21. I asked for a summary of the charges and was told that I was being charged for the Service Call, Parts, and 8 hours. I provided the dispatcher my card info and he proceeded to bill it out. Once the transaction was successfully approved, the truck was released back to my driver. The mechanic left.

I then started making calls to my local contacts and tried to gain an understanding of what could possibly be causing the electrical short in the truck, causing the wires to smoke. In these conversations, I was able to ask a mechanic and good personal friend to drive 700+ miles to take a look at the problem. I know it may seem out of the ordinary to take such drastic action as to send a mechanic 700+ miles, but when you’re in the business you know that this is still very likely the least expensive option. Here we were $1442 in already and the truck was still not operational. Another option was to tow the truck as previously mentioned, to the local Peterbilt dealer, but that would come with another hefty service bill, not to mention the towing charges. Anyway, my mechanic arrived Monday June 8, 2015 at about 7AM MST to the lot where the truck was broken down. He went about his business of tracing all the wires that were connected to the starter and within about an hour had found the issue. The mechanics’ that installed the starter the previous day had incorrectly wired the starter causing the electrical short. One of the positive wires was connected to the ground and one of the ground wires had been connected to a positive terminal on the starter. In short, the starter was installed incorrectly.

After confirming that the truck was functioning properly and thanking my mechanic, I proceeded to call the company that had serviced the truck the prior day. The gentleman simply said he would speak with the mechanic that had provided the service when he “woke up” and would put me on the line with him. After several hours, many more attempts, a lengthy text detailing our conversation, I have yet to receive a call from the company. I reached out to them again today June 9, 2015 and was told this time that he would try and reach the “owner” and 3-way me so we could discuss the events of Sunday.

I am not looking to gain anything from anybody’s hard work, but when I am being charged for something caused by their own actions, and not getting any real response, I had no choice but to file a claim. Further to that, the potential damages caused to the wiring, sensors, and possibly the Electronic Control Module of the truck far outweighs a charge of $1442.21, not to mention the cost of sending a mechanic 700+ miles one way. Right now, the truck appears to be functioning properly, when the truck gets back home, we will have our mechanic look at the wiring to ensure we don’t have any wires that may cause a short due to the smoking of the wires and subsequent potential for grounding out.

I will continue to try and resolve the issue with the road service company, but I get the real sense that I am just wasting my time.

Added for this forum: the starter was just 4 months old; delco reman. Had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that it could be a defective starter. Solenoid stayed in the open position; cranking even with the key in the off position. Wish i had run across this forum prior to Sunday.

go to google maps and find the culprit. you can leave a review.

I've done it in the past and always look for positive review for any repairs.

These people are absolutely out to ROB you. As I have read they spend a few hours driving around and charge you for it. They got to my driver in good time, when they went for the parts they were gone 21/2 hours and all the guy could say was rush hour traffic. I have used a lot of road services all over the country and there are many good ones and there are bad ones. But these guys are HORRIFIC!!
SO PLEASE SAVE YOU MONEY AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE. unless you just like to give your money away, in that case I will give you my address.
