Yea, that failure to control/decrease speed to avoid an accident is kind of a standard charge in that situation. I know you are hoping for a dismissal, but sometimes you might have to live with a conviction of improper equipment or some other low level state/local violation. There is no rhyme or rhythm around the country when it comes to local court systems. But you did the right thing by getting a lawyer. Best of luck to you.

Does your gf have her CDL already? Just thinking outside the box here, but if she does then maybe she could get hired on and "train" you since you don't have OTR experience.

    Dharok Thanks this.

Whatever you do don't make your situation worse than it is. You're going to be splitting hairs when you're filling out a job application when the company start asking questions that deal with driving. Omission is fine but you've got to hold true to the questions being asked. If you lie or even where they think you might have lied you're doomed. You're 22 now and so far your record has "failed to control speed". If they find out you lied about any item they are going to add lied on job application. Any common sense would tell you that your chances to drive are slim. I would try to clean up everything you can and then sit down with a company you like face to face and explain what happened. Your age is not helping either. Most companies want 23 year olds. Just hit the bricks and talk with some of the companies you like because you never know where you might catch a break. Don't waste your time by just sending in job applications over the internet. I don't think you stand much of a chance if they read your record. It's much much better if you can talk with these people and be up-front. Good luck.

I think his age and no otr experience along with the accident make it virtually impossible to find and otr gig.

Chinatown might have some recommendations though. And if op finds a something. Maybe have the gf apply also.

At 23 just find a local job. Spending your 20's otr living in a small box without girls, sex and alcohol is depressing IMO

Where in Texas do you live? Are you willing to come to Houston... if so you've got too many options to list any small to average size environmental company that runs local/regionally would love to have being that you vacuum/tanker experience. Pay between 18.50-20.00$ plus depending on you negotiating skills and if you go out of town most enviro company's well pay good per deim and put in hotel if only daycabs. If you were to get hazmat and twic I'd say you'd be shoe in. I got on with am environmental company and love it I didn't have any vacuum experience to get on with Dupre or mission petroleum. I'm doing that now and getting roll off experience as well. Totally worth it.

No she doesn't yet, she still needs to go to school. I wanted to get on with Travel America, work solo for a bit while she went to school and then get her on with them so we could have teamed, but idk why my exp is not good enough for them, I certainly know how to drive a truck better than someone who just got out of school... but O well.. lol

Yea that's exacly how I'm feeling. I didn't know that my driving experience wouldn't count, otherwise I would've never went to the oil fields and I would've hit the road like how I originally wanted just to have that stupid 1 year OTR...

Wish I would've thought of that before moving back to Las Vegas lol.. Maybe I might have to retreat lol... That's how much I was making when I was working in the oil fields, I lived in San Angelo Tx, worked around Big lake area most of the time.
