Don't know the west cost area that much but, I hear good things from sentinel transportation fuel drivers say they love it. Idk about if oil field driving transfers. I'd look at the environmental side of it there should be some out west that does that.

OK, I've got a lot of thoughts here. First and foremost is that you dodged a bullet by CRS not wanting you!

Second, it is very expensive to relocate. And it makes it doubly hard if you don't have any contacts where you are moving or have moved to. You are so much better off if you can find a job where you are currently living.

Now, as to finding that job, if I was in your shoes I'd start looking at the local aggregate outfits. Driving a dump truck or a concrete mixer isn't a whole lot of fun, but it should be fairly steady and pay pretty well. Look into some heavy construction outfits. The ones that do jobs like build highways etc.

If all else fails, look to trash outfits there. Not a pleasant job, but it pays well.

As far as a team OTR, with your lack of experience and you're lady having neither the experience OR the CDL, coupled with your age and your accident, I'd put that on the back burner for three years or so. You'll look a whole lot better to a prospective OTR outfit if you are 25, (and have kept your driving record clean,) than you will at 22. It's just a fact of life. (Even though I know it is NOT what you want to see here. . .)

As far as lying or omitting information on your application, just DO NOT DO IT! I know several folks will think I'm wrong about this. But it sounds to me like right now, you have some integrity. Keep it!

Vegas is an expensive town to live in, but you should be able to find some kind of a driving job there to hold you over for a few years.

    Good luck to you!

(I'm kind of surprised that you ticket was related to speeding, rather than the standard "Following To Close.")

Hey, thanks for the solid advice. I actually moved back here with what you said in mind. I applied to 2 concrete mixer companies, neither has called. I worked in the oilfields so I wouldn't mind doing hard work, or the heat outside and all of that, so I was really looking forward to one of those jobs.

I also have some belly dump driving experience, which I did before moving back to Vegas via some owner operators out there, fairly easy job, didn't like it because you were on the truck all day and very short haul lol.. But I would be interested in doing it in the city because of longer trips, not so annoying lol. The only company I found, requires 2 years of experience and doubles and tripples which I don't have (yet). So I couldn't qualify for that one, would've loved to, they pay really good.

As of the trash, I would've loved that one also, they pay great and good benefits (Republic Services) I applied with them, they denied me. On their website they say they "prefer" 2 year experience. Everyone in town knows that if you don't know anyone and if you're not black you don't get in.. (not being racist, it's almost a fact) So it's really hard to get into that job...

I've called some small OTR companies and they say I'm not old enough due to insurance... So I'm screwed on that part.

As of now, I applied with PRIME and I am waiting to hear back from the recruiter, I talked on the phone with him and he said that my accident shouldn't be a problem since I did drive for another company for 6 months after my accident.. So we will see what they say from PRIME. Also, my gf is going to apply with them and she meets all the requirements so she should be able to get on. If I get on with them I will be driving solo until she gets out of training and then we would both be able to team. That will be the best outcome if it all plays out right which is what I'm hoping for right now with PRIME. Lets see how it goes.

Update: The recruiter called me and said that my app looked good, he sent it over to some department (forgot the name) for confirmation and he should know by next Tuesday if he'll be able to bring me on or not... Keeping my fingers crossed! haha

I worked with them over a year and do not see why they would not take you even for that reason? Did they ask you to go with a trainer for a short period of time? If so, it IS a short period of time.

They didn't ask me, the recruit just flat denied me, she said to go and get some OTR and then re apply.. too bad there was no other recruiter to talk to.. as she was the only one from my area..

This is my experience, but not be your's or other's.

Since you got a ticket in a cmv it will show on your PSP. Even if you beat it in court it will show the original violation majority of the time if not every time. If reduced to something else it will also show what it was reduced from. I beat one ticket (expired license) in court and one warning (speeding) in a cmv vehicle. But both of them are on my psp and not on my driving record. So do NOT lie on a application. Grounds for immediate dismissal, even if it's not on there yet, it will be, and when you have to do your annual driver report they will catch it. SO beware.

I had a feeling they could tell anyways that's why I always felt bad about not saying it so I will said it. I rather be upfront about it, don't want to be out on the road working and then get fired for that.. One I think it would be embarrassing and when you come across "why did you leave your last employer" question on an app.. I wouldn't want to say that I got fired for lying on my app... lol I think PRIME is going to give me a chance (fingers crossed) so we will see.. If not.. to my old job washing cars for 2 years.. lol

Well hopefully they will. Weather it's Prime, washing cars, or flipping burgers, we all have to do something to just get by. Just think positive and keep your head up no matter the outcome.
Also maybe check into the delivery service company's like, Sysco,McClain,etc.... as a driver assistant delivering to restaurant and convenient stores. Lots of hotels and restaurants in Las Vegas.
Then when someone calls in sick and they're in a bind and u have a CDL ....bam! You get your foot in the door.

My advice is to get a different kind of job until you turn 23. That's the magic number for the insurance companies.
