The little ones adjust. My 2nd child had just turned 1 when his daddy got his cdl and went otr. He lights up everytime he sees him come home. My oldest was 4, and he was ok after we explained it was so daddy could take care of us and buy us things and he talks to him every day. And our youngest was born 2 months after he started driving. Around 4 months, she was scared of him...now at 9 months she is starting to remember and recognize him. Your 2 year old will not forget you!!

One of the key things, i think, is your wife has to make it positive for your child, no matter how much she hates you being gone. When my oldest gets sad, usually around the 2 week mark, i remind him that daddy didn't leave us and he is at work. He works hard because he loves us and wants to take care of us. He will be home soon.
And remember, even though you might be stressed on the road, your wife is stressed too. So, don't get too upset when she starts #####ing at you because something broke, and the kid is sick, and she has a headache, and life sucks. Just listen and understand amd try not to fight. (Especially right before you come home. That is when i get most tense and we fight more. Long periods without sex really suck.)Kalin72 Thanks this.
