The opportunity is greater, provided you know what you are doing.

Mileage based leases work off the averages. Doesn't matter where you run, you get paid the same. And a good plan will have a liberal, empty mile plan. So it really doesn't matter how far you have to go to get load ... just chase the miles. Minimal risk, smaller reward.

Percentage pay you have to be able to pick your own loads or you don't stand a chance. Effectively you are betting on yourself, that you can beat the averages. Bigger opportunity for reward, but bigger risk. Do it wrong and you will lose your shirt a lot faster than you would on a mileage lease.

Just to help you understand.......A lot of us went through the process together, starting with BS for orientation of 3 days, then going up to Butler In. for Eagle orientation which lasted 1 day, back to Indy to get trucks. At the time I was there, they had run out of headache racks for flatbed trucks. Once they got them, Palmer Kenworth (dealer) was installing them and it was taking them approx. a shift and a half to install one rack. I returned from Butler on a Mon. and was waiting on my truck until Thurs. nite, left Indy Fri. approx. 4pm bobtail to Knoxville. That is the reason for the delay in leaving. Other drivers had to return to Butler just to get their equipment once they had a truck. I drove my pick up so I got my equipment while I was there the week prior. Saved me another 2 days.

Over 80% of the office personnel are under the age of 30 and very new at the whole trucking business. I have been to a few orientations over the years and have never seen one ran like Celadon. Very very disorganized.

I haven't signed yet. I will read the entire lease contract before signing anything, for sure.
