Actually, to be correct, she called at least 3 times. The first call, she had waited nearly all day for an answer, so when miss so and so does not get any call back, she calls 2 more times after that. My best guess is that SHE GOT RUDE for having to wait so long, and mouthed off..

I think the contention here is that nearly everyone agree's that IF it WAS a family emergency it would be the right time, right place, right thing to do.

apparently, it was for some other (frankly) stupid reason(s) she had called. This could have waited for her "man" to be back at the motel, or leave him (perhaps) a voice mail or text message for her "man" to deal with LIKE a man should about "his job".

I feel personally that if she is such a busy-body, he the "alleged man", should suffer the consequences of her stupid actions.

When a person tries for a job and is in (say) the office for an interview, in all reality what does it say about the person calling asking did you say this, did you say that?

Please believe this last little tidbit of information. I had been a garage manager many years ago, before I got into trucking. The owner of the garage needed a gas attendant. So a short ad was in the local papers.

One day, in comes this mousy kid, WITH HIS MOTHER......!!

She SAT THERE right next to him.>!!

I told him the job, pay, and NO benefits,

His mother said "TAKE THE JOB"..!!

That was my first experience interviewing 2 PEOPLE.!!

He actually worked out fine, but he got fired (I was glad to do it) a few months later.

So to me, in my opinion, the o/p of this thread is as mousy as that kid was way back then, HELL, IT MIGHT BE HIM.....!!!!

Most of the guys agreeing with the rude office employee and the Nazi manager probably don't have a wife. I'd find a better company if I was the OP, these jerks will only get worse.

So, you agree with the op, meaning you think it's okay for your wife to call your prospective new employer (remember, he was just in orientation!) several times to inquire (instead of YOU, the new employee!) about some sort of reimbursement? And having no idea whether or not she was rude, overbearing, ignorant, etc. to your prospective new employer during those SEVERAL calls on YOUR behalf, you automatically ASSume the office employee was rude and the manager a "Nazi"??!?

    Just......wow.

    Carry on then mate.

I vote for controlling your woman....Your expections of being "connected " are a little much....while yes there could be a family emergency..if you are a 1000 miles away it will take you half a day to get there unless you get on a private jet....

    Be safe out there

'Controlling your woman' is the wrong choice of words to use. This isn't the 1940's.

Sounds like OP needs to learn to read and write so he can do his own paperwork and stuff. I've never heard of anybody's spouse calling the other one's place of employment unless it was a medical emergency. At the very least your man card is forever revoked.

Absolutely....she called once and they ignored her...then she tried to get through to them and they not only ignored her but threatened her husband.....big red flag.... I'd be in somebody's face if I was her husband. Go ahead and act like a little puppy dog if you want.

Huh? Your wife or husband, whatever the case may be ,is not allowed to call your employer and ask a question? You guys live in a bizarre world.
