O/O's, what if anything do you do for your personal and business banking concerning identity theft. Cards get swiped all over the country and it seems so many companies get hacked now.

My card # got hacked just this week. Went to use it Monday at subway, card was declined. called Capital One, they said a hold was put on it because of possible fraud.
At 2:00 AM Monday the card was used four times 3 of the 4 times the purchase was declined. The 4th was approved but by the time I called them Monday the money was already credited back.
The card was cancelled, Capital One expedited the new card to me. I had the old card in my possession at all time. The physical card was never lost or stolen.
All I can say is Master Card and Capital One fraud prevention system worked very well for me.Wild Murphy Thanks this. -

double yellow, taxihacker66, dog-c and 4 others Thank this. -
Eh, just keep your cards maxed out and default on a loan or two. If YOU can't get credit in your own name, neither can anyone else.
lots of character, double yellow, taxihacker66 and 6 others Thank this. -
Thats actually pretty slick...wonder why more banks don't do that?

The gal who did my taxes told me about new tax ID from the government for this very reason.. Thanks for the reminder.
Every account I have gets shut down on slightest hint of suspicious activity. It's so bad its irritating and embarrassing at timesWild Murphy Thanks this. -
Hey Murph- My credit was compromised three years ago. Put my wife and I in a real problem. Could not afford a local lawyer, but a friend of mine put me on to this firm in Florida. Name is Lexington Law. Com. I had no faith in this, but gave it a try. Turned out to be great. Its been 3 months and 300 bills and my credit is at 40% fixed. Took off all the fraud purchases and more. They charge 100.00 a month after the work is done. The sent text all the time telling me what they are doing. They also have credit protection that I have now. MikeWild Murphy Thanks this.

With all this id theft crap, why are we using a CARD to pay for a $7 Subway sandwich? I see people swipe a card for a cup of coffee and a donut......
I've switched just about all my petty expenses to cash. Only use cards when I have to, like online. Still a lot of exposure. but three or four purchases a month is much less risk than fifty or sixty, and it makes book keeping a lot easier.flat top, HalpinUout and tinytim Thank this. -
Mine does that as well. They know how and where I use it. Gave the card to my wife once to go use at Burlington Coat factory it went through... but1 min later I got a text msg asking me to verify the purchase.
I have Chase, Discover and Capitol One cards also. No issues so far.
