I don't see why they would kick you out, the only reasons they kick applicants out of training are because of discoveries in discrepancies with information you posted on your application, i.e. lying about having a misdemeanor or felony on record etc.

As long as you show up and show inititative you will be fine, the best thing about otr is you can save a lot of money and your financial situation will improve.

 

That is why I went to central instead of swift. At the time they were both owned by the same guy who founded swift. Later that year the swift company itself purchased central.

My trainer is still there with them and he said they run their own ship. I'd still recommend them over swift, but u hear swift really isn't that bad if you have your head on straight and know what to expect.

No. If you can get cdl training via a state supported agency like WIA, do it. Swift will then put you in a truck with a trainer for 5-7 weeks and after that you will go solo. If you have a free ride with WIA then go that route.

 

Sure some recruiters lie and some are just plain misinformed. There's nothing wrong with some trucking company CDL schools. If you want to get started quickly, then contact Earl Henderson Trucking Company. If you're in the hiring area, they will probably have you in class within a week. They will pay for transportation to their school in IL and lodge you in a one-person private hotel room with 3 meals a day.
You will need an original social security card and original birth certificate.
This company has a guaranteed minimum pay of 2100 miles a week even if you don't drive that many miles. Their website is a little out of date; but recent posts from students say the starting pay is $.38 cpm which is good.
Items you will need:
sleeping bag & pillow
work gloves
steel toed boots-slipon type is best
flashlight
I bought this stuff at Walmart and you might find some of it at a Goodwill Store.

 

Even though Swift has excellent training, keep in mind they have driver facing cameras and audio monitoring in the trucks. Some drivers are OK with this and some are not.
