I never drove, or worked as a SCAB.
I worked for 2 union shops in my lifetime. ONE WAS a trucking company....
Trucks at the local (back then ) Ford dealership, when FORD produced HD big rigs, were vandalized. SCAB drivers were followed and one was beaten severely. SCAB drivers had to be "bussed in" as after the first day of the strike, ALL the tires on ALL their cars were slashed, one car was burnt,
WANNA mess around with strikers??
I had to stop, at a picket line (when I was union) and they knew me as it was a regular stop for me. AS a union member, I DO NOT cross picket lines.
I DID however ask PERMISSION to at least enter so I could TURN AROUND and leave. I was RESPECTED for not crossing their line, and was given many hand shakes and bear hugs for not delivering that time.
It has been years since I worked ANY union job. I can take them or leave them, mostly however, I really do not care for them. But I will STILL RESPECT a picket line.
Should I do it?

Take the strike out if the equation. Do you have a permanent gig right now? You don't quit a permanent gig for a temporary one. That's extremely short sighted.
Now, if there was some sort of guaranteed earnings, that would be different. But you just may get only 1 week.Dale thompson and powerhousescott Thank this. -
Even though I am no longer in the Carpenter's Union. I worked many a picket line and respect the workers right to strike for a better wage. It is very dangerous crossing a picket, individuals do not think like humans at that moment in time. They become like a pack of wild dogs, and are blood thirsty and have been whipped into a frenzy by their leadership that what they are doing is right. When mob mentality takes over without proper leadership, individuals, and property end up getting damaged. I have seen it happen many a time, so is $3000.00 per week worth possibly getting injured or killed over. Like TripleSix said, why would you leave a sure bet for a what if?

I wouldn't do it. Our company isn't union but we won't cross picket lines. Too much potential for problems.
