I'm posing this question because my wife is wanting to where nice shorts..I on the other hand think that it is inappropriate as I want us to be just a lil better than avg..
So what say you..
As for shoes are sneakers ok or are they frowned upon ?
I plan on wearing new levi's new sneakers and a collared shirt.. Should I invest in boots or not needed.. School really has not give any dress code or list of things to bring ..
Advice on how to look a cut above would be appreciated ?
Same question while on the trainers truck ?

If it's a community college CDL school it doesn't matter what you wear. Didn't at mine atleast.

Clean clothes that arnt sweat pants and boots instead of flip flops will give you a leg up appearance wise ... Pay attention to instructors and ask if you don't understand something.. Most of your classmates will be full of bs they think is right but the instructor has the final word good luck and Ty for thinking of your appearance

If your school did not provide a dress attire list then for the classroom, you and your wife should be fine. When you get out onto the course and will be getting in and out of the truck, shorts for the wife will not work. I would also not want to ruin a pair of nice new sneakers and would wear boots.
You should not be worried about dressing to be a cut above until it is time for the job interview.D33RHUNT3R Thanks this. -
The better you are dressed at school, the better equipment, pay and home time you get ))

It depends on your school. At mine no sneakers no shorts jeans were ok. Your clothes may get dirty working around the truck. Grab a pair of work gloves. Investing in a pair of workboots or hikers i would suggest. Remember the truck is dirty and greasy I wouldn't want to destroy your nice clothes on itD33RHUNT3R Thanks this.

On the real job, your co will prob require real boots with ankle support and or steel shoes. Some plants may require you to wear steel toed slippers to clunk around on as you go to the shipping office. Also be advised to pay extra for good footwear. Walking around in oily fuel islands seems to dissolve the glue that holds shoes together. Nothing like a loose sole to give you a bad day.

I was overdressed my first day of CDL school. The instructor picked me out specifically and said he was not responsible for any grease getting on nice clothing.
It was late winter early spring and most guys wore hoodies after the first day.D33RHUNT3R Thanks this.
