Just an update on my situation. I called the shop this morning and was told that it's looking like Friday before my truck will be done. They are waiting for the new wiring harness to be delivered from a dealership. This Friday will make 2 weeks that I've been down.

Most of the advice given here seems to be either get a different truck as soon as one breaks down, or avoid someone elses headaches, roll with the punches, and allow my current truck to undergo the needed repairs.

I chose to wait for this truck to be repaired since I've already been down this long.

Yes, like others said, you followed procedures even though it seemed messed up. They might of marked that truck for sale now that it cost them a bunch. Most likely if it's four years old and around 500K. You'll probably get a better one. But it's luck of the draw with a big company.

Always CYA and you'll never have problems. I would ask for breakdown pay by the book too if they haven't mentioned it.

So what is standard procedure when a truck brakes down? you are in company and just a driver not a mechanic if you are not an owner operator why would they expect you to wait for your tuck to get repaired.

    When a truck brakes down

do you head to the nearest company base? on a bus?
and await to get assigned another truck?

Or are you told to wait for the truck to get repaired.
