oh well driver 797 that lil blue Mustang says HIFooman Thanks this. -
My hubby applied with them but never heard from him. We are not sure why since he worked for US Foodservice for over 12 years and then with New Century. When he talked to someone there he said you had to re-pallet or something. I am not sure on the language but you don't unload but just have to do something within the pallets and you get paid for it. I hope this helps. BTW, my hubby ended up at Cardinel and all is going well, he is home everyday.......what an adjustment
Fooman Thanks this. -
I am not a driver for Dot, but have looked at them extensively in the recent months. They pay well and are well run. The driver unloads, but is compensated for the effort. I was told that if you don't want to really work hard - driving, then unloading, driving, then unloading several times a day then don't bother applying. They drive auto-stick Volvos and you will get your own truck, usually right away, but they say also that you may slipseat for the first 6 months but is extremely rare. They have training pay during the training process which varies according to how quickly you pick up their system and how well you drive. You will spend 1 week in house, then over the road with a trainer. They have multiple bonus programs, such as a quarterly, quality, idle incentive and speed incentive. They guarantee that after your training period all first year drivers will make $50,000/yr.
Hope this helps in your decision process.Fooman Thanks this. -
I drive for Dot Foods, and I can't believe how lucky I am to have landed with this company.
The pay is great, the equipment and maintenance is good, driver treatment is outstanding, driver support is great, and I'll never drive for another company.
You have to unload your truck if you're a Customer Delivery Specialist, but we also have Linehaul and Team operations.
If you're throwing groceries, you'll get home every weekend. If you're Linehaul or Team you'll get home about every 7-10 days.
I won't go into too much since it's been a while since you asked, but if you're still interested (or anyone else is) I'll be happy to talk to you about them.
I will NOT give my name to you if you decide to apply with Dot. I don't want anyone to think I'm blowing smoke just to get a recruiting bonus. It doesn't matter anyway, when you interview with Dot they'll give you the names of several current AND FORMER drivers you can contact to ask questions just so you know you're not getting lied to.Remrie, Fooman, Knee-High and 1 other person Thank this. -
I know this is a kind of old thread but I have a few questions about Dot foods. Do they have autoshift transmissions or 10speed manuals. Also what is the pay durring training and orientation. I like the sound of the 50k a year guarentee. How does that work. Has anyone made less than that in a year.

We are also interested in this company if anyone is on here who works for them.
-
Do they hire out of SoCal ?
-
We have a driver where I drive that retired from DOT, see talks pretty highly of them. He just wanted to stay closer to home, so he came to work with us.

I too am interested in this company. If anyone drives for them out of the Modesto,CA. office or anywhere else, please speak up. T.I.A.
