As it is with many new ventures, there are some growing pains but after 9 years in this business and working with three other well established larger trucking companies I have to say that working with Chief Transport I'm actually beginning to make the money I should be making driving a truck. The owner Larry is an awesome guy to work for. He knows your name and understands you are human. But to work here, you have to WANT to work. Driving a truck is not about sitting in a truck stop eating or taking a "break" when you should be on the road getting the job done. They have about 20 trucks right now. I average about 2800 miles a week, sometimes more, sometimes less but we DON'T go to the northeast rarely if at all. It's about 50/50 live load and drop N hook. The company is growing so things change from time to time. We do some broker loads for backhauls and those can be tedious but it's not like your not getting paid for it. I average about $1100.00 a week gross but I run sometimes three weeks at a time. I don't expect to get home every weekend so I get an extra load or two on the weekends however if you live in the Atlanta area you could probably get home more often. We have Comcards for fuel and scale tickets but since we don't usually go up north they don't pay tolls. We have the Prepass but no EZPass. We get paid every week by Tripscan. Our average length of haul is about 400 miles. We have newer Freightliners and some Volvos (2014 and 2015), some with APUs. Our trailers are "getting better." They are trying to phase out of the older ones but I still run into some issues with some of them (but those are usually left by other drivers not doing PTIs on the trailers before they drop them. My truck runs 75 MPH and I love my Volvo. Its clean and comfortable but some of the other drivers here are slobs and quit leaving their trucks nasty. We are on the E-log and Qualcom and we don't get any other benefits (like health insurance) right now but that will be changing very soon. This company has only been in business for about a year but if you can live without the smaller things you can make money here. There seems to be a high turn over rate and I'm not sure why. As long as you do your job, communicate with dispatch (we only have one dispatcher right now and his name is William and he's a good guy. He works hard to keep me moving) you can make some good money. They don't hire inexperienced drivers and we don't train, If you've got two years and a good record call Marty (our Safety Guy) at 800-765-4992. Please keep in mind, this isn't trucking for beginners here, this is a place for drivers who don't mind working hard. Just tell them Walter said so. Just so you know, I'm a driver and I actually work for them. I'm not a recruiter...we don't really have any of those.

Yea I worked there for Chief for a week and a half......SHADY Transport is more like it all they have to my knowledge is Volvos which are nice no problem there but they don't tell you when you start that they will be using your PERSONAL PHONE for dispatch they blow up your phone with text...... And if you stop an even 30 mins before your clock runs out they have a problem their dispatcher Will Santiago will seem cool at first but soon he will be sending you texts in the mornings like a child telling you in his words "get moving" total jerks the safety manager Marty insulted me my first day there he's seems like a pervert with what he said.. No truckers don't have 12 year old girlfriends #######. And I will leave it at that.... The owner is one of the most arrogant men I have ever encountered.. As for the posting above that sounds like the owner Larry check out the rip off report on these guys these drivers are not lying.
They will tell you they are about to get insurance for drivers lie I was told when I was hired we would have it the next week come to find out they had been saying that for months so choose wisely use caution bc I didn't trust these guys the first 2 days

Eh, Chief is not that bad. I was with them for over a year until I started having health problems. I have been a driver for 40 years and have learned in that time, a job is what you make it. Like the first driver said, if you don't want to work, Chief is not for you. They have good equipment and they will work with you as best they can. You, as a driver have to work with them as well. I never had any unfixable problems with Larry, Will, Marty or anyone else in the office. If you Want to make good money, you can with them. Like all companies and people, there are problems, but also like the first driver said, they are still in their infancy and Im fully confident they will be worked through eventually. They have some very big accounts, therefore theres a lot of pressure on them to perform, and obviously some of the pressure will fall on the driver, not unlike any other company I have driven for in that respect. They have good running areas- very little Northeast. Its mostly Southeast and Midwest. I never had a problem with payroll- whatever I run, that's what I was paid for. Larry, the owner, wears Many Hats in the company so I can just imagine the pressure hes under. I don't regret my stay with the company at all.
