Hi, I was wondering who owns the passenger seat? Is it the trucker themselves or the trucking company? or other?
I was wondering if the trucker has the right to do something with that seat ...to either make a bit of extra $$ ? or is everything owned by the trucking company?

    Thanks Tracy

The company trucks, are owned 100% by the company ;)

Thankfully, they thought enough to buy the optional seats. Instead of making us stand while we drive. Like we used to do in the old days

The entire truck; passenger seat, side boxes, cat walk, sleeper area, interior and exterior are owned by the company. Modifications to trucks are usually grounds for immediate termination if you do not get permission (in writing) first.

By the way there is a "no rider" policy at every trucking company I have ever checked into. That means no hitchhikers, no renting the passenger seat out like Greyhound, and no attaching advertisements to the side of the truck, and no tinting the windows either. Rider policies are permissable for other company drivers and sometimes family memebers of the driver provided you were approved for an authorized rider which normally means an extra insurance policy rider you will have to pay for liability issues.

If there is something you were thinking about other than the above then ask specifically what you had in mind and we will try to help you.

If it is company equipment then the company owns it. ALL of it. if you own it then you own it.

This is not where this question belongs. there is a forum just for these questions.

not to mention it doesn't make any sense

If that is true then perhaps a truck junkyard, ebay, or buy a brand new 1 from a dealership would be the answer.

I know there have been some companies that do in fact remove the passenger seat for a driver to install a refrigerator, computer, printer or scanner in the passenger area.

What about the steering wheel? Can the driver make a little extra money and sale that as well?:biggrin_2559: Heard on CB, I got a copy of PC Miler if anyone is interested. Never mind that you got a passeger seat or gear shift???:biggrin_25523:
