My new experience with Gordon Trucking, post-buyout

Every driver has a different definition of what a "good" company is. For some, it's about the cpm; for others like me, not so much. Heartland meets those definitions for some and not others. I never worked for them directly but even when I was part of Gordon after the buy-out, changes were happening, slowly, to be sure, and at a measured pace. Since then, I've noticed what I have to attribute as changes based on corporate input. Gordon will become more Heartland-ish as time passes.

I left Gordon this week after 4 yrs. I was in a team truck, on a dedicated run loved it! lost my co-driver to an injury. Going back to being a solo driver was eye opening! Heartland policies and procedures had destroyed the Gordon I hired on with! 2000 to 2300 miles a week on US fleet confirmed to be the best I was going to get, that averages $117.00 a day for me, I can make that and not live in a truck for 2-3 weeks at a time. I am not bashing the folks at Gordon trying to keep drivers moving but for me, not a living wage and it is reality. you have seen it many times "avg length of haul is @300 miles".

Everything must be hunky dory with Gordon. No negative posts lately, or at all for that matter.

Because most people are leaving to get away from the Heartland machine

You'll be going into a very different company we all left. Most likely, you won't have a bad experience. Gordon still has great equipment and probably still has some good people working the other end of the phones. Good luck to you; enjoy your time there, no matter what we former drivers say!

Always wondered... Do Gordon drivers make the same cpm as Heartland? Or are the low figures on GTI's recruiting site of up to 43 cpm a reality?

Gordon drivers are leaving in droves because all the new " Heartbreak Express" rules are so stupid and restrictive. Gordon cant hire enough new drivers to keep the seats filled. As of Janurary 1st 2017 Gordon is no more, Heartland takes full control at that time. One thing that really pisses me off is that even though Gordon carries snow chains, heartland doesn't allow chaining and shuts you down when it starts snowing. As soon as my paycheck no longer says Gordon Im outta here.

    DenaliDad and joseph1135 Thank this.
