I book my own loads and wound up sitting the whole weekend too. Don't just assume there was something available that would have worked better.
I think you gotta assume your DM is doing the best they can for you. It's trucking, you take the crap with the cream.

Here's what I would do, try to get along with it. Next time a holiday is coming, call the DM and politely tell him, "I got hosed pretty bad on the 4th weekend, I know it happens but I would appreciate it if you would try to get me a better plan this time if possible." If you can get them trained on the concept of making it up to you, and don't constantly whine like 99% of drivers you will be surprised what you can get them to do for you.

The key is you have to take your share of crap loads though. Instead of whining when they can't do anything for you, use it later when they are in a position to help you

solution is to never call that broker again and tell everyone who the broker is,,
too many time someone #####es about a carrier or broker but it does no good if they do not identify them,,kind of like peeing in the wind

    This guy knows!
As a dispatcher im always beeing nice to someone calling me and explaning calmly the situation.
Im not afraid to offre extra money for the waiting time or any other problems at the shipper or receiver.

If nobody calls on the other side and demand extra money for waiting time, nobody is going to get the extra money.

Sorry for my english, im from Québec Canada ;)
