Hello friends. Just got a used truck from a small fleet in New Auburn WI. I Would like to transport it to Virginia some 1000miles. I kindly seek helpful information on the procedure of transporting the truck home. I am not contracted to anyone yet. So I don't have a dot number and am scared to be harrased by the dot. Please my fellow truckers help me out with helpful information on how I can drive the truck from WI to VA. Thanks all on advance and be safe out there on the road. God bless

you need to get it insured (bobtail) and transport(temp tags) you might need to concact WI and VA to see what you need

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if I have to pull in to the open scale houses with the bobtail?

Yes, to reduce chance of being pulled over drive at night or on weekend ))
When I bought my truck some 700 miles away I drove back with only bobtail insurance, title and bill of sale. All 3 weigh stations I passed were closed, cause they probably dont like to work on Sunday:D

Use a stethoscope or section of vacuum hose (to ear) and isolate the source of the tick.....

    Tough to do from here!

check for exhaust leak around manifold you will see black soot marking leak. Just a start to see if this is what you are hearing.

Drove my Transtar home here in WV with proof of Insurance and a 1 way permit, don't know if all states offer that but WV does. Think it's like 5 dollars, cheaper than a ticket. For insurance I just needed a valid insurance card with my name on it, might be different for an out of state person but worth asking about.

My friend once used a dealer plate he rented. I don't know if it was legal or not. He did not get stopped... Might be worth asking around?
