I am currently in a 320hr night school CDL course in south Fl and began applying to companies when i started school. I have been speaking to Sni, Melton, and a few others and decided to take the Job with Melton since I wanted to get into flatbed instead of being stuck on a reefer or dryvan. They set me with a start date for orientation today pending my graduation from CDL school. Im excited to get started trucking.

strapping is rough, you may have to spend 15-20 minutes in below freezing weather ! some guys even have to take their flip-flops off and put on socks and boots.

Should have thought that reply through better before I posted it, I have no doubt you have a good work ethic. It's just that in my experience those who "say" they aren't afraid of work usually are.

Keep us posted on your progress with Melton. I've been driving dry van for 3 months and plan on switching to something different after my 6 month mark. I'm thinking about doing flatbed with Melton (I want something a bit more physical than just sitting on my ### for 13 hours a day and moving tandems/opening doors for 1). After doing some research, the only thing I don't like about Melton so far is the driver-facing cameras. It's like having a camera in your bedroom...

I'd bet the tarping is much harder than the strapping. I used to do a job where I loaded flatbeds for transport so I know that's easy stuff, but hauling tarps up and down ladders in the winter would be a pain. BUT, Melton pays $40 for each tarping so they're at least compensating well for it.
