I live near a US highway between Jacksonville and Ocala (there's a Swift terminal in Ocala). Fully HALF the rigs I see on the road here are Swiftys, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time in a convoy. They obviously have the loads and they are hiring! If that makes them desparate, then more than half the companies out there are desparate. The first school recruiter I talked to (Friday) represented three companies (Swift wasn't one of them) and any of the three would subsidize my training if I start class TOMORROW or whenever! I'm not that ready yet, but soon.
The jobs are out there when you're ready. Don't get in a hurry, do your research, and figure out what's best for you after separation. DON'T forget to use your G.I. benefits from the Montgomery Bill, which can be paying for your training even before you get out, or after. They will most likely pay for all or most of your training at a local community college or PTDI certified company school (most schools aren't PTDI certified). I used up my G.I. Bill benefits decades ago (for electronics), before the time limit ran out.
Soldier! Thanks for serving your country! I put in my time in the Navy during Nam, but didn't see combat.

Thank you for serving OUR county and protecting us so we can live the way we want and work for who we want. - a big thank you to you and those you serve with.
-
Thank you also for servig in Nam. I still wear my POW bracket for those not found yet.
-
thanks to all of you for your replys and recongniation of my service, but i love what i do and i want to THANK ALL THE DRIVERS OUT THERE. You are the ones that make the country roll, eat, drink, sleep. If it wasn't for truckers the country would fall apart. Again THANK YOU for your dedication and drive.
Nerocat 500 Thanks this. -
I wouldn't say they are desperate, some terminals are in need of drivers some are not. I have been told that Fontana was not hiring and others have told other terminals also are not hiring.

I know from experience that here in Desoto TX, they have anywhere from 100 to 150 each week, in orientation. By the time it is all done, they loose almost 75% who attend..

And I don't need to add a thing. Others are catching on your BS, Paw, and the others like you. Keep on keeping on. It's fun watching the inevitable happen. The inevitable being "all cheerleaders will be exposed, sooner or later."

Another one jumps off the cliff of conclusions.
And what is your point in all this ad-hominem business?
Come on. Surely you have an argument in you somewhere.
I thought so. -
Good to see somebody else taking the reins and putting these guys in their proper place.

Sounds like that individual owns you and everyone like you. Sic 'em, boy.
I don't know what kind of throne you guys think you sit on, but here you're just like anyone else. Got it? The only throne you sit on with me is the porcelain one. The one that leads to the septic tank.
