nothing, the pay was great. 52cpm LH. worked out of a ####ty term.and their equipment is hideous.but they are buying new tractors.i mean the stuff was dangerous.drivers were cool, everyone else was a moron.alot of prima donnas in LTL,not all,but you dont make demands as a new driver.an old timer..ok..new suck it up.I was breaking down or having issues 95% of the time, not an exaggeration.way to much unpaid sitting around waiting for a load too.
TJTexas Thanks this. -
Thanks man. They're telling me I can expect consistent 2700-2900/week as an extra board guy. Is that realistic? I've been concerned about getting stuck at a terminal as an extra guy as in "Sorry driver, youre on the extra board and we have 20 guys ahead of you. Go on back to the hotel and we'll call you in a couple of days"mpow66m Thanks this.

if i were you id look into ODFL,Estes isnt bad and id be suprised if you didnt get what they told you.they have a ton of freight.hopefully youll be at a good term.youll have work everynite and running wild is were they money is at.itll be a little tough for a few weeks while they feel you out or whatever, but when the get you rolling youll make some cash.ALWAYS CHECK YOU TRAILERS AND CONVERTER TO MAKE SURE THEY A SECURELY CONNECTED W/ A FLASH LIGHT THEN DO A TUG TEST.

Don't go to Holland for the pension. YRC, Holland and New Penn are only paying into the pension fund at a 25% rate and the fund in general has been operating in the red for quite a few years. Also they have the worst equipment on the road period. You will probably be driving an old raged sterling with way over a million miles on it.

Yeah but Holland pays hourly the 2nd you break down. No give 2 hours. If it takes 6 hrs all paid. Now equipment I have no clue. If you break down or wait time no hourly pay with others. Also Holland you pay nothing for insurance. Other companies 80-100 a week. It equals to .02cpm a year. Plus Holland pays a lot of hourly. Which compared to other LTL's that don't pay can average .03cpm. I feel topped out its around .57cpm still. Other ltl pays mostly straight cpm and not much in hourly. Plus their raising their pay cause of higher medical rates. For example ODFL pays 2.00 to break and put together a triple set while Holland pays around 16.00 a set. Do that twice a night OD 4.00 Holland 32.00. You'll hear all the gripes about Holland and the -15% but if you really break it down pay is close to others with less BS of elogs, cameras, super safety managers, and micro management of other LTL's.
skinnytrucker, already gone, blacklabel and 1 other person Thank this.
