That's good, it will reset your clock. For myself I have found its best to do the 2 hr break first, and then the 8. Drive 5, do 2 off, drive 5 more and do 8 sleeper
8 hour split correct?

yep, a lot of times i start with the 8. and end up with a expired 14. and my logs are laptop

I use a split much of the time, but I do multiple drop at varying stops, some efficient, some a craps shoot and some nightmarish. I use the 8 hour to leave early and get rest for the drops, and usually get a 2 hour somewhere waiting. I then get in another 8 somewhere and get back a few hours sooner. It's a long day running out the 14, which may not complete the drops starting from origin of the load. I can sleep better in the truck than waiting to leave out in the early wee hours.

I like taking a 2 hr nap midway through shift if I'm pushed for time on a long trip it saves me the 1/2 hr mandatory break on a 1600 mile one way run I save 1.5 hrs in 3 shifts
scottied67 Thanks this. -
I use the split quite often with long haul reefer. Usually get into an area and do the 8 sleeper Head to my pu or drop and do the 2 there.

It's good as long as the previous day is showing an additional 30 minutes Line 1. One question: Why the third 15 minutes on Line 4 after the 30 minute break? You show a PTI at the beginning of your drive (0130-0145), assuming an off load or load at 0500-0515, then 30 minutes 0515-0545. No need for the 15 minutes at 0600 since you didn't move/change locations from 0500.

I do that also. Most times when I am at a dock, and I don't have to count, I log the check in and back in as fifteen minutes on duty, load time as off and check out and pull out as another fifteen minutes.
This driver's log, assuming he has the additional half hour off duty the day before, and he didn't drive more than 6 3/4 between those 2 hours and the previous 8 hour sleeper, is legal, but I wonder why anyone would take an 8 hour sleeper berth at 7:00 in the morning? -
Like to run at night maybe?

Slow shipper , bad dispatch who keeps you on a need to know basis are just a few reasons people take a 8 sleeper in the morningscottied67 Thanks this.
