Mine was loose at where it plugs in in the unit. I've bought phone charger with same plug, and it charged ok. But it keeps on charging , everything gets hot and I have to unplug it. Original cord has a cylinder kind of thing in line. All replacement cords I've seen don't have it. What's the deal? What should i get?
Rand Mcnally power cord??

when my RM cord gets loose i gently squeeze it with pliers to make it a lil "fatter" and it fits tightly once again

5" require a 1.5 amp
7" require a 2 amp
The "round" thing is for voltage spikes to "smooth" them out. It is a Ferrite bead .

All things electronic really should have a 2 amp socket. Anything less is just starving the thing.
