I have a 98 W900. The air coming out of the vents seems fairly cool but is barely blowing. Is there a cab air filter that might need to be cleaned or something else I could check?

Yes. When I switch it from low to high there is a slight difference but it is just weak. On low it is like it is not blowing at all you can barely feel it.

How do you clean out the evaporater - from behind the glove box or under the hood? I looked at it breifly and it wasn't immediately obvious how to open it up.

Look for a cabin filter if it has one kw usually have them under the air intake scoop on the side. If it doesnt have one look for the air box where the blower motor goes. Open it up clean the motor with some air pressure and gently clean out any gunk stuck on the the fins of the Cores i used a toothbrush, then rinsed it off with some low pressure water make sure the water has somewhere to go , small crack in the bottom should do. Seal it back up and youll be freezing your ### off in no time.

Thanks. I opened up the box where the blower motor is and blew it and the evaporator out. Lots of dust but no major blockage. I did not see a filter on the side. It seems slightly better but not much. On high I would say it is equivalent to my pickup on low. I will keep digging. It has been raining the past few weeks and now it is dry the phone is ringing off the hook for us to haul dirt. Really don't have a lot of time to fool with it as I am trying to get while the getting is good.

I hear ya, you hauling an end dump? You said there was alot of dust. If your truck is anything like mine 2007 kw t600 it has the blower motor stuck on the top panel and has a steel plate with a small motor for the vent and a thermostat stick. If your truck is similar did you take that plate out?
