Friday night a nearly soiled my pants when out of the darkness came a blacked out, no lights Ford Explorer sitting PERPENDICULAR to traffic on the shoulder near MM 34.
I talked to some other drivers on my route and said its a local out to make a buck.
So an officer is willing to get T-boned for a $120 ticket?
Sure enough tonight, knowing where to look and not be surprised I see the same outfit (a Crown Vic this time) in the same spot. At least this officer had the good sense to back up into the woods.
But two minutes later he comes roaring down the hammer lane (80+) blacked out. I don't know who he's after but I figure I'm going to get a front row seat.
Instead what I witnessed was 3 miles of Hollywood wannabe car chase driving. Tailgating, swerving without signaling. He didn't use his lights until the last second.
I already tried reporting the Explorer to the state police but got bogged down in the bureaucracy, cop wants to martyr himself for a 70 in a 65? Not my problem as long as I'm not the one that hits him. But it's apparent this department might just be full of the kinda renegade ####### cops nobody wants to deal with.
So watch your step between mm 30-40.
Reckless local department on I-78 in NJ. Don't let these hotdogs get YOU.

I just don't get it. I understand that if speed limit laws weren't inforced that people would be flying down the highways and streets with reckless abandon.
But the way some of the police officers pursue speeder's that are 5 to 10 miles over the speed limits seems to be more dangerous than the speeder's they're after. -
Reminds me of this:

I think there's a court house like that in luckenbach .
Dreamboat Thanks this. -
SO, is the driver just speeding, or are they in a hurry to a hospital because a child isn't breathing, or did the driver just rob or murder someone and is leaving the area? If you don't know, don't judge what they do.
Oh, and if the officer was hurrying to your residence because someone was trying to break into your house with your wife and kids in it, do you want them to drive the speed limit, or get there as fast as possible?Fatboy42 Thanks this. -

I did put in my post the circumstances I was referring to and it was a minor speeding infraction. I, you and everyone else benefits from what they do . My post was in regards to How a few officers pursue someone doing 5 or 10 miles over the speed limit. Nothing about chasing fleeing bank robbers or murders.Last edited: Jul 21, 2015

I've called in more then one officer that I thought was in a unsafe location shooting radar. Make sure you get the ID number of the person you talk to.
-
They're still there but tonight they used a marked cruiser.
I'm not worried, my truck is governed under the speed limit. -
But what did I say, the officer doesn't KNOW what the car speeding by him has done. There's not a sign on the side of the car that says "Law abiding person, just speeding."

True. I was referring to the scene the op had described about running tottaly blacked out and putting the other motorist's in jeopardy.
