Will a portable A/C unit work inside my truck?

I got a ryobi as well, drilled a hole in the cap,piped it in using air fittings,hooked it up to a 2.5 gallon aux tank via a transfer kit they sale at northern tool or tractor supply,running a 8000 btu portable ac,exhaust runs out the passenger window for now, gotta do some modifying.....not quite sure of the run time yet,had a air leak around the gas cap first night, gravitated most my fuel on the ground,picked up a better bonding compound for gas looks to be holding way better.

How is it performing in this heat? Will it get the cab to low 70s at least?

 

I will let you know, didn't get much set up time at home, still need to get to a lowes and get the roll of that metallic insulation film and cut it to my windows,but so far I'm comfortable in the south, but then again I have it blowing right on me lol

 

Yeah, cooling the whole cab may be iffy, but if you just have it blowing on you it gets cold fast. I'm usually going for my bigger blanket after a half hour.

Did you just have the auxiliary tank setup like a gravity feed on top? I'd like to get the vacuum model from IPI Industries, but the price is too high.

 

Yeah still having a few issues at the moment,had to get a drain hose,gravity feed is apparently not good for the ryobi had a puddle of fuel just a minute ago,lowered the tank and now it's drying up, in the am I'll get a few pics of the fuel cap,set up and as it is I may have the fuel line too long,I'll know if it shuts down, I can stand the cold but don't do heat very well at all.

 

Yeah just for the cap and hose is $80.00,crazy I'm hoping that I got a better seal on the stock cap this time to pull from the aux tank,I tried gravity but read somewhere that the tank has some kind of overfill protection,thus and the glue I had at home didn't help to keep it from puddling fuel,Not really sure,gonna check it here in about a hour see if it's still pulling from the aux tank

 

I would pay the $80 to guarantee that no fuel would be spilled and less chance for a fire but that's just me

 

I have a friend who did this. He made a board with hole in it to put in the window. Roll window down, put board with vent hose attached, roll window up.

 

That's the downside to Diy,gotta keep trying till you get it right,fortunately I got it on the second attempt,but will be ordering the cap and hose soon as I can justify it, started the gen at 20:00 last night, it ran out of fuel at 13:00 today, so ruffly 17 hrs of run time on 3 gallons of fuel, so the ac works great at night, however I started getting a mix of hot and cool air around 10:00ish, so to isolate the warm air I just took my blanket and hung it up so that just the bunk was being cooled with the ac poking through, this for what it is and what it does works, it's not the best setup, but it will get you by
