So I am looking at 2 different trucks to purchase. It will be for a team. I have narrowed down to the following:
2012 cascadia with dd15 with def 511k miles asking $56k
    vs.
2013 volvo 780 with d13 not sure about def yet (looking at it in 3 days to confirm) 508k miles asking $69.5
This is 3rd truck for me. I am adding as I go. I currently have 2013 cascadia with cummins which has been a disaster.(I'll never buy cummins again) I have a 2nd cascadia 2011 with DD15 (no def) no problems yet.
I know what i am going to get with the detroits. I havent heard anything bad about the newer volvo so I was just checking opinions from other people.
I have heard in the past that volvos are more expensive and parts are harder to get but I have heard recent that has changed for better because of more locations in U.S. now.
    Opinions please....
    or should I entertain paccar?

    Another concern would be mpgs...
    Detroit expect low 7s
volvo xe package high 7s low 8s
10k in fuel savings per year?

2013 Volvo will be DEF for sure
Are You operate in lower 48 states or use team for dedicated route?

I thought some of the volvos use scr with no regen which mean no def I thought? Might be wrong...
48 states teamed open board loads...primarily atlanta, columbus, dallas,Los Angeles
    some n.w. but not much.
volvo is an i-shift with 2.64 by the way
    detroit 10 spd with 2.53
freight is light LTL under 25k consistently

For the record I own 2001 Volvo with D12.

Buying newer truck most of issues (I wish You that not happen but we know how that work...) will be with electronics, sensor, DPF, DEF etc.So old saying "everybody works on Detroits" does not really hold water anymore.BUT a lot of their dealer/stealerships are open 24 hours. When they can get You in is another story...

Volvo dealers network seems smaller, but they add a few (Wyoming finally has one I 80 in Cheyenne). And not so many open 24.

    Just my 2 c.
I am partial to Volvo (cab quality build, quietness, ride) because that what I drove when company driver and own.
Hopefully some fleet owners who operate both will chime in and give You more insight on costs and
    pros/cons.

    Yes...
FL Dealerships take at least 2-5 days for repairs now matter where u are at.
even my local guy take 2-3. It's just a fact of live now adays.
what has been your experience dealing with volvo dealers for repairs over past couple years if any?
