That is somewhat true, depends on individual upbringing. But that is a good point.

Age is nothing but a number. Driving a semi is so different from a 4 wheeler. Most of the issues associated with teens and car accidents involve extreme speed over the speed limit. Most will be with a company that regulates the semi to 60-65 mph. Let them work!!!

you are talking about a different time. things changed, as many things in not only the world, but in life..... this does not mean that an 18 year old is capable of handling not only a big truck, but life on the road. one cannot compare going off to war over driving a big rig.

One is shooting a gun, or sending rockets due to self defense training and eliminating an enemy, or be killed for not doing so..

the other is to earn a paycheck.

BOYS have been sent off to war for as long as we were a country, to defend this land.

Men drive trucks to earn a living and support either themselves, or a family.

Some could handle it and some could not. Same with people over 21.

I will agree with you that not all over 21 are right for it as well and those few that are 18 and have a good upbringing could handle it. Its just the majority that believe texting and driving like an idiot is the norm and perfectly safe cause nothing happened when they did it the first couple of times. Until they decide on a standard for training and ensure these kids were not taken advantage of by giving them the proper knowledge in my opinion is not a good idea.

    That bears repeating, thanks!

I've heard that before, never really found out which is the truth. You may be right, it's all propaganda but as a former trainer I know most people couldn't hack it & quit. The megas do benefit from that though.

Agree that there are people of all ages who are crazy drivers.

Yes CDL mills shouldn't exist but since the truck companies benefit by having to train drivers again OTR they won't change the system, money always will trump.

And those are the old guys. Let's bring the teenagers into into the mix and see what happens.
