A couple years ago now. A mining company sold all their junked 793B's and C's to a company overseas. About 15-20 of them were hauled from the mine's boneyard to this laydown a couple kilometers away. We were subcontracted to disassemble them down to a reasonable size so they could be shipped down to the US for rebuild before being shipped overseas. 4 of us mechanics plus a welder and crew of 3 on the crane had them down into pieces in about 3.5 to 4 days per truck.

Are you with TransTech, or is it just that they were doing the hauling?

No TransTech was just transporting them. I was working as a field tech for Wajax at the time.

Don't be so quick. Remember Schneider Heavy Haul? Occasionally, you get these bottomfeeder doorslammer gigs that thinker can get together a football team. So they hire a bunch of disgruntled benchwarmers from the legit teams, create Team HeavyHaul, cut the rate, get a foot in the door...

...and F everything up. Schneider tried. They were in for just a minute. Screw up. Screw up. Screw up. Out. If the best player you got on your team was a 2nd rate benchwarmers on a legit team, you are not going to have a good season. You are going to lose. And like everything else in heavyhaul, when you lose, you lose biiiiiiiiiig. One minute, they will be in swarming all over. Next, they're done. Too many fines.

I may have posted this before, but I will tell it again. I was at a wind Site in O'Donnell,TX. had a Bulldog roll by with a nacell loaded on a 2-3-2. He tried to make a left turn, didn't use the jug handle, and now, he was in danger of dropping the left rear into a ditch. He tried to back up, but the jeep and the stinger got him crossed up. I jumped into the truck with a pilot cars and I had him take me up to help the guy out.

'Driver, you need to lock the stinger straight. That's your only chance of backing up.'

    "How do you do that?"

    'Seriously, you don't know?'

"This is my first time doing this"

(Dear God, don't tell me they put a rookie behind the wheel of an 11 axle....)
