I am originally from Mays Landing, and now I live just outside of Atlantic City. My dad grew up about 20 minutes north of you in Sparta.
Cool! So do I. Live in P'ville, NJ. I used to work for Covenant, havent been trucking in a little over a year, but getting that itch again.. -
Chicago is worse than NJ, more like NY
TE="19kM-1Driver, post: 4695731, member: 159058"]I am signing on with Magnum after leaving Roehl. How often do you get to NJ? I hear about driving out in the Eastern states. Nothing bad to say about it but not thrilled. I don't mind driving most places but NJ sounds like a traffic nightmare. I have driven Chicago a ton already so maybe it isn't any worse. Gotta run the East eventually it seems.
Heading home and closing out my month. I ran 12,964 to date and snagged the $15.00 bonus from Pilot for fueling over 1600 gallons. How'd everyone else do?
-
Nice miles for the month.
Too bad they don't use more Loves. Then you could get .04 a gallon in rewards. -
Thinking about leaving current company, and see if I can get hired on with Magnum. Just got a couple of questions for you guys. How long do you have to drive for Magnum, before you can become a trainer? How are the trainers compensated for training? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
-
I was told 6 months depending on your previous amount of experience. Not sure how it's paid, but the trainer does no driving (unless in an emergency). The student does all the driving.Milechaser Thanks this.

Thanks for the info runningman0661, I've been driving for 12 years, have trained for 8 years. Just trying to find a company that I can stay with for the rest of my driving career, current company I work for, the load planners don't have a clue, resulting in way too much downtime.
-
With your experience you can start training once you complete your probationary period (3 months). You'll get all the miles @ your rate and an additional $160 per week. The student is expected to do all the driving, which is ok as Magnum's freight lanes do not require teams. Give 'em a call!
Milechaser and runningman0661 Thank this.
