There is so much truth to being stuck in the northeast. I swear I'm getting sucked in closer and closer to the event horizon of this black hole the longer I stay up here. I just can't seem to get out of here!

I never really wanted to go over those CO mountains though. In training with two different companies when I went out west both my trainers (even when I wasn't driving at the time) went out of route to avoid the mountains in CO supposedly because it sucks and takes forever driving through there.
From what I've seen the chain laws aren't there entire state just on I70 going through the mountains.
I really want to go out west during the fall, it would be soo beautiful going through some areas out west around then.
This whole "OTR" is feeling more and more like a job lol. It was fun seeing the all new places for the first year or so of driving but now I've seen most everywhere east of I35 already.
Simply going to places like Kansas city or Minneapolis has brought me great joy because I've only been there a couple times before not a million times. -
You could always leave anytime you want if you want to leave for peanuts though.
The Northeast is good for people that live there and can run regional to get home a lot.
If you don't leave the Northeast and just run in tiny circles you can do well.. but I know personally I flip out if I do that crap for too long.
Here's a few tidbits of my own experience...
For me personally... I draw a line from Pittsburgh down to Richmond.
Anything to the right of that line means I'm officially sucked into the Northeast black hole.
Not that say Baltimore is the "Northeast".. I know some like to nitpick when I say the Northeast but I'm talking about rates.
It's not that difficult to get okay rates going WEST from Pittsburgh down to Richmond but after that line I speak of then it is.
I don't cross that line unless I get huge rates going in.
Once I'm sucked into the black hole $1.40 all miles is my bottom line to leave.
Meaning I run regional until a load pays me $1.40+ all miles to escape.
I refuse to leave for cheap which meant multiple times being stuck up there for a week plus.
My record was about 12-13 days... I ran PA to NY and back the entire time just waiting for something to get me out. After 10-11 days I was totallyand about ready to give up.
Right when I was totally spent for patience I finally got lucky and nabbed a Rochester to Memphis load for $1600.
So far every time I have met my $1.40+ goal but it ain't easy!Last edited: Jul 28, 2015

I know it's only on most of 70 but it's most of 70 and you can't go around Denver without being on 70.
My advice is to have them just in case. Never know where you'll end up.Blackhawk driver and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
You're right through, you never know when you could need chains. A few times I could have used them in PA last winter.trucker91 Thanks this. -
Approved everywhere. Lighter and easier to install.

I'm over this crap.. people today have beat me multiple times to hot loads in a manner of seconds.
Back to driving -
Could, be the new load alert. People are watching the same loads youre watching.
Dinomite and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -
The load alert is at least 3 hrs so not likely. I have heard of some guys using a program that assigns a load for you the second it confirms.
I do know I see 10x the # of ICs as I used to... That just might have something to do with it.Dinomite Thanks this.
