I don't think I've even seen a driver do a pre trip

I always showed 15 minutes for a pre-trip and D/H. (paper logs) I never logged a post trip, and was never questioned. Depends on the company.......... I guess.

What's a pre trip? Ohhhh that line on the log that's on duty that most don't actually do.
Legal or not just log 15 min, dot has been looking at log since the dawn of time and that's what they are comfortable with. An hour out of 70 is a lot somtimes but it's not worth them finding somthing else. -

Except that since December 18, 2014, a DVIR is only required if defects are found or the driver is made aware of same.
