The question in the original topic was asked and answered several times over! Why must further comments be restricted to a new thread every time someone has an opinion to express (which is often even more confusing when you don't know what prompted the new comment)? What part of your post was "on topic"? I'd guess now we get to talk about a "bunch of hens", right? :)

BTW, I don't normally blow smoke (I do my research), but I might blow a few holes in someone elses smoke!

I got a question. I have license but no job yet. How long do companies keep those applications with all your info on file. See I am sending applications to every possible outfit that mentions entry level I wnder if I have any changes from prior if they will scrutinize it & nail you for it. I intend to keep sending to some of the same outfits. Since I get no response I don't know if it even gets read.

Yes, companies are still hiring, but it may be that they will be slowing way down. If you got a prospect jump on it.

I haven't read a bunch of fancy schmancy research reports. Here's my take after reading between the lines, here, in the news, and observations of the world around me.

Our economy is taking a huge dump and will continue to do so, probably until housing prices reach pre-subprime price levels, that is 2002 to prices. This will probably be around 2010. At this time things will get better only in that things will stop going down in price and level off.

Another way things will get better, for the corporations that is, is if our GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TO ALLOW THIRD WORLD LEGAL AND ILLEGAL ALIENS to invade our country. This will bring on more consumers and more cheap labor.

As long as we continue to sell off our valuable resources and send jobs overseas we will be in deep "gin chi".

I must say that people are still getting hired on at trucking companies. BUT one major company seems to be pulling back on hiring, Schneider. Those who didn't believe me a couple weeks back are becoming believer's now. Schneider has painted out their 800 # according to a number of reports. :biggrin_2554:

Keep in mind so many people come to this sight to be heard and get some kinda petty recognition. Beware of their "happy horse ****". Our society has been trained to think positive.

Watch "Lou Dobbs" for the truth in news.

Sorry I didn't mean to write so much, one thing just leads to another.

P.S. There is are another couple of possibility's that are less likely but possible. Another Depression, followed by another world war.

tHANKS FOR REPLY. Like you I research a lot. Can't use newspapers & tv any more to know what is really happening. It's all part of the con. Things will & are getting worxe. 185,000 LEGAL IMMIGRANTS EVERY MONTH, not counting illegals which is much higher. This creates a squeeze for available resources such as jobs. It also created an artificial demand for housing. But the jobs keep going overseas & so does money. gwb still is intent on attacking Iran. Expect a major attack in his last 2 months in office. Don't be surprised if a 'toy ' rocket shoots an American Airlines plane down within our borders. Don't be surprised to see martial law imposed. Don't be surprised gwb suspends the elections & remains in office. He has already given himself those powers through EOs. Asia is lining up against us, S America would like to. gwb has already given Mexican truckers unlimited access to USA. NAU is slated for 2010.

Meanwhile I need a JOB. Don't believe these co.s keep applications on file long do you? That's my original question. & yes it's great to have a way to vent.

WOW, someone needs to lay of silly sauce. SERIOUSLY. You talk, but make no sense. Check your facts, attempt to educate yourself on current national news, then come back here and post reliable resources. It just took 20 seconds of my life to read that 5hit, AND IM NEVER GETTING THOSE 20 seconds back.. Thanks alot.

Here are a couple more predictions I might feel bad about:

    1. FOOD CRISIS-The food crisis will get much worse. Food could double in price, here in the USA.
    2. OIL CRISIS-Oil will go to $200.00 a barrel by next year, if not sooner, if we do not start a major solar program through the southwest, if not the whole south. Just like the dam building program of the 1930's. And we must drill in our own country.
    3. HOUSING CRISIS-Home prices will drop to 2002 prices.
    4. People will be forced to move in mass back to the cities, abandoning suburbs, and rural areas.
    5. DOW JONES DROP-The Dow Jones will drop to 10,500-11,000. maybe as low as 10,000. It will stay in the area of 10,500 to 12,500 or a number of years, 3-7 years.
How will naysayers feel when these predictions come to pass? I'll predict this to. They will say anybody could have known that. Or everybody new that.

Give us your predictions just for fun. :biggrin_25514:

    Time will tell!

Could - in fact, certainly will. In what time frame? 1 year? nope. Maybe in 10

I love this one. Yes. Oil is going to go through the roof. Petroleum. It has JACK to do with electrical power. Power is produced in one of three (primary) ways: Coal, Nuclear, Hydro.

Further - you could plate the planet with both solar converters and wind generators, and you will not come close to the output needed to supply the grid.

The ONLY long term solution for feeding the grid is nuclear.

For fueling trucks, there's a number of possibilities. The only viable one I can see is biodiesel. The others do not provide enough energy per ounce.

(radical redesign of engines might come up with something else - but biodiesel will work in your truck right now)

I think most estimates say no lower than 2004. but I admit 2002 is possible.

Nope - this is where fuel cells, hydrogen, alternative fuels, and electric cars will come in to play.

Sure, it's possible but not likely. The Dow is geared to go up, always, over time. If a company fails or consistently underperforms, it's removed from the index and another company takes its place.

There are also protocols and procedures to prevent a crash. Not the least of these is to simply shut down.
    How about counter-predictions?

    Food Crisis
Food will shoot up. I may have been a little strong on this point, food will probable double. It will at least go up 50% and with in the next 6 mos. if not sooner.

    OIL, ELECTRIC CONNECTION
It's good you can see oil is going up. How high or low will it go? Electricity does have Jack to do with oil. Every body is well aware of how electricity is made now. One fuel you forgot to mention was natural gas. I'm sure, me being aware of your intellect, this was just an oversight. It's to bad people can't draw the connection between electricity, solar and cars. PLUG IN CARS. Most auto travel is with in 40 miles of home. Plug ins will easily cover this. It maybe that they get 150 miles to the charge. Hybrids are being converted to plugs. Plug ins will be on the market in the near future.

As far as plateing the planet is concerned here's some info on solar. Most recently Nevada Solar 1 was built and completed in about 18 mos. on 400 acres, supplying enough power to supply 40,000 homes. Try to do this with your Nuke Stuff, in this short of a period of time. We need action asap not some day. You need more info on solar success look up CA solar, Nevada Solar 1.

Let me give you another example a 400 acre parcel will provide enough energy for a may little town like Kingman. If each small town dedicated 400 acres to solar they would be in good shape.

Arizona gov. wants to make AZ the Sudia Arabia of solar energy. We have the land and the sun for it.

As far as running trucks, it's good to see you can see bio-diesel. If we go solar and electric cars or plug in hybrids, there will be plenty fuel for other s.

HOUSING PRICE DROPPING TO 2002 PRICE LEVELS
On the subject of homes dropping in price. I say they will drop to 2002 prices. I use some reported info to come to conclusions. I don't state what they say. I use my own observations of the turn of events in the world around us. Reports are made so as not to panic the public. Some people are in denial like Bush, who was asked by a journalist what he felt about the predictions of $4.00 a gal gas. Bush threw his Bush crap back at the reporter. Well now 2 mos. later we are at $4.14 a gal.

It's good to hear you are willing to consider the idea that prices might drop to 2002. For warned is for armed.

    The Dow
The Dow is always geared to go up, you say. On the Dow you say it's possible it will drop, but you doubt it. WHAT, do you think the Dow is going to do? I stand behind what I say, the Dow will drop to 10,000 there abouts. Put yourself out there, say something rather than try to ridicule people with your intellect.

It's good to converse with people. It would be nice if people weren't quite as smug as they are. I notice this is prevalent on the net. What's that all about. The way I see is if you don't like whats being said counter it, no reason to be a wise guy. The other option is ignore it.

It sounds like in a wishey washey way you are against what I'm saying. Like I said time will tell. Well Come back here in the future 6mos to a year.

    Have a good day
