Don't drive a tractor trailer yet, but I have nearly always used dash cams in my cars and I plan to take it with me when I start driving, even if there is a company one.
Caught a lot of people cutting me off at a bad intersection (two left turn lanes and people liked trying to change from the left lane to the right lane mid-turn or right after the turn to get into the walmart entrance a hundred yards down the road), luckily no accidents but it would have helped if one happened.
Also had a case where I bumped somebody (no damage) and it showed his vehicle when we pulled off the road and showed us out and walking around. Would have been useful if he decided to try and claim damage or injury.
Do you have a dash cam?

I have one sience about 3 years. It records all in HD and has a wide angle lense with 170°. In the 1080p mode it records I think 6.5h. In the 720p mode it records I think about 4x longer (or some thing like this.)
The only bad at all the cameras is the holder. I made a few holders self.
I made a few small connectors which I glue to the windshield. The 2nd part of the holder stays at the camera. When I remove the camera, I remove it easy with the 2nd part of the holder. So, for me it is easy to move over the camera into my car also.
I installed it in the windshield near in the middle on the top.
What I do not like at all the cameras in the truckstops is, I never found one with a wideangle lense.

I got a mivue 358 or something like that. I don't like it. It has a problem rewriting over old files. I have to format the card from time to time. I've been shopping for a new one. I might try that $15 one, but that's almost too cheap, scary cheap.

I am happy with my camera. I used before a "
"veho VCC-005-MUVI-HD10"
They did not live long.
Now I use 2 "Drift xxxx".
I have in mind to buy next a "
"SJCAM SJ5000"
I think this is actually the camera which I would suggest.
I think in about 6 weeks I buy one of these. I watched a few reviews of this model and I think this is the right one for me. I think this model is good for the night recording.
And to make a holder for this, this is not a problem for me.
All good

I've been using transcend for a year now. It can WiFi to a phone or tablet. It has 1 min. - 5 min. Record intervals. So you can just capture the incident needed.
Yes video is not in English. But better view than just highway.MidwestResident and EndHatred Thank this. -
.Is there a pill to help me choose a dash cam?
I appreciate every one's reply, for real! but duh there are so many to chose from, now I'm totally confused. have no idea what all the numbers mean. but please don't stop!MidwestResident Thanks this. -
Depending on ease of use. And your personal application. Ask a driver if he has one. In his truck. And have him show you how it works.
If I run across you I would show you the transcend 220 I have and use.MidwestResident and EndHatred Thank this. -
Im probably just going to use a gopro hooked straight through my laptop with plenty of memory. never know how much of a trip you''ll want to share with family or need for court. and when you are on vacation... you already own a gopro.
not to mention excellent quality.
MidwestResident, EndHatred and peterbilt_2005 Thank this.
