18yr olds may soon drive trucks?

    Super, the web has one page now dedicated to some good advice for teenagers, but it doesn't have a video game so I doubt any of them will read it....


    All kids used to pass tests in high school, passed biology, science etc but that doesn't qualify them to be a biologist or scientist now does it? Just stay up the night before & study, call up your friend in the first class who already took the test & get the answers ahead of time to taking yours,. that's the way lots of teens do it but that's not even close to being able to work 70yrs wk & focusing every second in an 11 hr shift.

    You're comparing high school tests to something issued by the state, which is not a fair comparison. If other states are like MD in this regard, and as of yet I have no reason to believe otherwise, then there are safeguards in place to prevent this sort of thing. One of those is using multiple versions of the same test.

    You unfairly discredit many with this blanket statement. I prefer to give people a chance to prove themselves.

    The ones who can't handle this job will wash out in a hurry. The ones who WANT to do it will make that apparent, and they should be nurtured and taught.

    But, again, if the insurance carriers say no, this discussion is moot.

    that sentence is the crux of the issue; failing here at this job can mean death, not just a failed grade.

    All I can say is, wait until these 18 year old start racking up violations,tickets and wrecks. The insurance industry will weed them out real quick,then no more 18 year old drivers :)

    But that isn't isolated to the younger end of the spectrum. To assume that it is does a fairly large group of people a disservice.

    Under the rule proposal; the 18 yr. old drivers mother must ride shotgun at all times. Their CDL will have a "Mommie" restriction until they're 21 yrs. old.

    Actually here in Florida all they have to do is pass the practice test enough before taking the actuall test and pass without ever opening the handbook. and study for it.
