Are there any ltl companies close by that train? Conway, FedEx dayton, etc.? If so, you'll be home every day and make more.

What are you saying that trucking sucks in general as a career?

There is NewPenn and RoadScholar very close to me. They are both LTL. They are on my short list of which I am trying to make longer. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Calex Logistics in Plains, PA
System Transport - has factory spec'd refrigerator
    Freymiller
    Halvor Lines
    Decker Truck Line
PI&I Motor Express - terminals in PA
    Don Hummer Trucking
Navajo Express - APU's and inverter installed at factory
    Abilene Motor Express
    H.O. Wolding
    J&R Schugel - APU's
    Jones Bros Trucking

All these companies hire new CDL grads. Some websites may have "experience required" but ignore that because they all hire new CDL grads. Start submitting their online applications and you will get several job offers. These are all good companies.

Prime hires new guys. They also will put you on tankers if you want that. They have invertors and the new cascadias come with xm for a couple years per some deal frieghtliner/prime/xm have.
I believe the tankers stay east of the Mississippi for the most part. Some Canada is in there and some long hauls west. But don't quote me on that.

Your first years will suck unless you don't have a home and are used to being alone. It's a shock for new guys and most get homesick a lot. Until you figure out what works for you as far as staying in touch with family. As a new guy in the industry, it's not all cake and Icecream (I'm sure you know since you said your not a spring chicken) till you get mentally into the industry and learn this and that. After a couple years it gets a lot better and you can go anywhere you want. But the first years are the ones that suck.

    Blackshack mentioned Prime.
Earl Henderson Trucking is affiliated with Prime and pulls Prime trailers and hauls Prime freight. The only difference in the trailers is the mudflaps have Henderson's logo.
Henderson has a guaranteed minimum weekly income also and starts new drivers @ $.38 cpm.

Anyway, lots to choose from for you. Submit as many applications as you want then pick from the job offers.

Let me chime @FullMetalJacket or @Broshears. There prime drivers Ive seen around the thread. Give you an inside scoop maybe? I'm not saying go with prime. Just trying to give you all the resources. And I don't know anyone from Chinatowns list. So I'm stuck.
