From what I understand, if the choice is there they will let us choose between loads, not a big fan of Chicago, but it's not too bad.

Picked up my load at the plant, was on one of the brand new trlrs, got my paper work, and headed out. Fueled up in Avoca IA at the F/J and started truckin. I got to my first drop in Lansing IL about 00:55 in the morning, went to bed, got up 5 hours later to check in, had 4 trucks ahead of me by then, so I positioned behind them, and went back to bed. By the time I got unloaded I had done my full 10 hour, bad day for the customer, so we got delayed, but good for me as I got my hours back.
Then I headed for drop 2 up in Chicago off the 94 & Pershing Ave. Small meat place, checked in, had 2 trucks ahead of me there, so I laid down for a bit, finally it was my time to back in, 20 minutes later I was done. Called in, and they told me to head to the truck stop, because by then our reload had shut down for the night, so we'll get them tomorrow.

Well did my Chicago run, left Omaha at 4pm, and man i wish I had left earlier, got to Lansing IL around 1am, parked, go up 5 hrs later to unload, but it was a FCFS, so I had 4 trucks ahead of me. By the time everything was said and done, I was able to get my 10 hour in, then I headed up north on 94 to almost the 94/55 split to make my second drop, get half a block from customer and the trains blocked me for about 45 minutes, finally get my second load off, but by then it was late, so I headed for the T/A in Gary for the night.

Gotta love the folks of Chicago, and that traffic, like being back in LA.

Another day another dollar, no, it's all good, this week I headed for St Louis MO, didn't start out so well. I get going with my load, stop in Percival IA off I-29 xt 10, scale the load, noticed that my reefer was not running, restarted, still would not work, made some calls, finally had to turn around and head back to Omaha to get a starter circuit fixed, hot day, load of fresh meat, not good.

Might get my Volvo soon, ahh back to auto shift, ya.

Well Sunday I took my first load with my Volvo, 43k load wt, she pulled good, very comfortable ride, very roomy, (680 midroof) overall I was really impressed with her. My load took my to Chicago, deep in the hood:), I got to the cust. shut down for the night, very well lit, no problems. Got up the next day, deliver load, then I had to DH 300 miles to Edwardsville IL, and pick at P&G, I got there, was given a dock, was told that I would be called when trlr was loaded and ready to go, so I went to sleep, woke up 2 hrs later, no call, went in to shipping office, and they tell me that it was ready an hour and half ago, I smiled, drove to guard shack, got my paperwork, headed over to the F/J, scaled, parked, it was late, 14 hour almost depleted, showered, went to bed.

Got up the next day, fueled, then headed on out to Nash Finch in Omaha. This P&G load was 45k of laundry soap, and my Volvo pulled over the the mighty MO hills with no problem, wonder how it would do over the Grapevine in CA?
