Best wishes with Stevens. Keep a backup list of companies in case you decide to change companies in the next few months. Be safe!

CaliforniaJellyroll and Chinatown Thank this. -
If you're able to travel, you can get a much better deal elsewhere. Especially from a community college truck driving program. You can get up to 10 weeks or so of instruction for a lower price, usually at least slashed in half what the private schools ask for.
Also, if you could afford to ditch the deposit, don't know how much it was... but if I were THAT sideways about how unprofessional a school was, and had good intuition that something wasn't right, I would have walked.Last edited: Aug 7, 2015

I was told that things like sleep apnea can be an automatic disqualifier for some companies. Does anyone here know anything about this regarding Steven's? I mean I don't feel tired during the day, or suffer from any adverse affects that usually follow sleep apnea. When I did my physical however, my doctor asked if I snored and I told him yes. He said that if that was the case, that I might suffer from sleep apnea. I'm just freaking out now that I'll go over to orientation for Steven's, and get disqualified for a position when I take their physical because of something that I don't even suffer negative effects from.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
The school is not to train you how to be a professional driver. It is to teach you how to pass a road test and a multiple question knowledge test. That doesn't require more than 160 hours in my book. The Government is just now nailing down training requirements and steps that should be completed before issuing a CDL. Under the current system, new CDL holders are supposed to go to a carrier and learn all the skills to become a professional driver there. Unfortunately this most times doesn't happen.
A lot of guys just aren't skilled enough or intelligent enough and can't get hired by those companies. These guys get experience by their seat of their pants, but never learn as much as they should have. A lot of CDL holders will never be professional drivers under the current system. I can't wait till the new minimum qualifications to obtain a CDL are announced. This should make the true professionals out there be worth more out on the road. -

If a doctor asks if you snore, say I don't know because I'm sleeping, but my girlfriend says I don't.

It would just really suck to turn up to orientation, get my company physical, and then have them turn me around =P.
