First, apologies to all if my search missed existing coverage of this topic, and also I hope I chose the right section to post this, now my question:
I am wondering about the nuts and bolts of just how information gets to CSA and onto one's PSP. Consider this situation... I was off duty, driving my personal family car, I'm ticketed for 11 over in a 25 mph zone. I know I am responsible to report this to my company's safety department. Close inspection of the ticket shows that the police officer made one mistake: he checked the box saying the license is a regular operator's license (he did not check the CDL box that is also there).
My question: will this citation make its way onto my PSP and affect my CSA score?
I have heard of police officers giving a CDL holder a break by citing them for a lesser offense, so it has a smaller impact on his driving record. I wonder if not checking the CDL box on the ticket is just another way for him to "give me a break". (of course he's not helping me out with the fine this way!)

I'm sure it doesnt matter. In the system you are still a cdl holder and that's that.
-
It may not even show up on your MVR if it's a small town; all they want is the money.
-
That's my feeling also...yet I also know sometimes little details like that can change things we don't expect...I'll keep an eye out and see what happens. Does anyone know how long it takes for an event like this to show up on CSA score?

For sure the money! This was a situation where a road takes an awkward s-turn into wbat seems for all the world like the freeway entrance ramp I was looking for, designed perfectly to trip up newcomers to the area, and this cop was sitting just far enough around the bend to make it impossible to notice him until it's too late. Text book trap!

it will NEVER show up on your CSA score... again NEVER
CSA points come from two places and only two places
dot inspections (ticket or warning same points)... you didn't get a dot inspection did you...?
dot reportable accident..... when DRIVING a cmv (your fault or not you still get the points)
so you CAN'T get csa points for anything if your not DRIVING a CMV
will it show up on your mvr YES..... can you go to drivers school to make it go ways NO (you have a cdl)Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -
go to court and beg for mercy

Go online and pick out a local attorney or law firm who handles tickets for a living. They aren't hard to find--their ads say things like "speeding tickets $75". It will cost you a few bucks more but it will make the moving violation (a bad thing) go away, usually changed to a non-moving ticket (not a bad thing) like "defective equipment". No one, including your insurance company or company safety department, will ever know and that will save you money and grief in the long run. The legal system justifies this by saying it's a form of "plea bargaining" but it's really just about the money, of course.

As greenmonster said, get a lawyer that specializes in traffic tickets, go to court and fight it to get it reduced, even if you know your wrong, fight it!!

11 over in 25 is a brutal ticket, I am surprised cop did not give you just 5-10 over, he must have been in a bad mood
