Also, do you have an idea of which wagon you'd like to pull?

Werner has some real good dedicated accounts depending on your location. Not talking about dollar general or similar

That's the reason 99% of the guys and gals starting out subject themselves to the stupidity of the megas.

Doesn't make any sense to me.

I started my career with Werner. We were not allowed to meet our dispatcher, mine even said when I called in to introduce myself that that pgone call would be the last time I called him, use the Quallcom. There is a reason they stay hidden behind thick plexiglass upstairs, they are scared of the drivers they keep screwing over.

I have a Werner terminal by my house, friend manages one of the hotels nearby, Werner puts the trainees up there. He gets a good chuckle out of some of them, the old adage of fogging a mirror couldn't be more true.

To the OP, you could look at local/regional work, TSL in Omaha, a large intermodal carrier is always looking for local/regional drivers. They have a few dedicated drivers that run reefer from Omaha/Grand Island to west coast. You'll be home more frequently if that matters, and they do hire students, or so their ads say.

There is no good reason to limit yourself to companies that send recruiters to your school! Apply everywhere, set yourself up for as many options as you can, you get a golden opportunity.

Schneider don't run reefer just so you know. I almost went with them but didn't want to spend 2 weeks in a hotel with a stranger and doing simulation work. I'd rather go OTR right away with a mentor. Even if it takes 4 weeks. I am surprised no one is mentioning Swift ;) They seem ok to start out with. Lot of terminal locations, miles and good equipment.
