Yes sir you are correct. You show up to work and wait 2 hours for your load. That's 2 hours of pay on top of your mileage. You break down and it takes 4 hours to get you rolling that's 4 hours pay on top of mileage.
-
Also if you discover something wrong with your truck while you are doing a pre trip you get paid while it is getting fixed in the shop.

I see all this .46 cpm and 20. something/hr as good money? I'm not sure I agree. We are getting $25.41 and .61 cpm, but our health insurance is not paid, currently I pay 17.00 per week for my family.
We are paid 100% for everything we do, at our hourly scale, to include accidents and break downs. The union has been trying to come into some of our barns and organize but has had little to no success. I'm not pro or against the union, I'm just not sure the benefit of their services. Besides, the Central States Pension Fund is in significant trouble from what I understand and is preparing to cut benefits.
Our equipment is all pretty up to date and our maintenance is pretty good too. I'm not sure a 15% cut would have compelled me to hang out, hopefully it will turn around for you guys. -
oh yeah......we are home everyday. I run line haul and our freight moves every night and comes home in the morning. No hotel stays....except in an extremely rare instance. They usually just send to drivers in a car to pick you up and bring you in if your outta hours to drive. For which you get paid hourly as soon as you run out of drive hours until you arrive at your home terminal.
Everyone driving line haul is making 85-110k a year.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
My only opinion of YRC is their equipment looks terrible, ancient and unmaintained...That's just the appearance, I haven't touched one personally...

It's top out .52cpm 20.06 hr health care paid for. It's still a good living but definitely low in the LTL world but good pay in trucking. I work for the regionals Reddaway we're owned by YRC so pay and stuff is close. I don't have elogs, cameras facing me, no idling or can't shift above 1500 etc. All that little stuff can be annoying. Night and Day difference in rules from other LTLs when I talk to drivers that came from other LTL's to work here. Why we have a lot of 20+ yr drivers that stay instead of jumping ship. They know the game at these other places. Very laid back job here and what others say about the other sections in YRC. I make still over 80k a year on a bid which has me off partially on the weekends. Plenty of money for me. From day one I drive and have zero dock work. I can barely drive a forklift cause in 3.5 yrs I've been on one twice. Holland and New Penn do work dock though. I drive a Truck with barely 115k miles on it as my bid truck. We have tractors which have 1 million 1.4million miles but senior drivers bid on them cause they pull and have more balls then the new stuff. Anything that needs to get fixed you turn in they fix it. Only way it don't get fixed is if you don't write it up. Lately we've been getting new trailers & tractors coming in and with this profit the company made and hopefully it keeps up from here on out they are going to bring in new equipment. It's gonna take time but I see it getting better. 3.5 years til next contract, you can count on the 15% coming back and likely more. Sucks to have to wait but that's the draw back with contracts.Midwesttrucker, LoneCowboy and XFM2013 Thank this.

We are having a hard time keeping drivers at our terminal in Pennsylvania. Everybody is quitting and going to work for ABF. I didn't realize how bad it was going to be until I got here. The only thing this job has going for it is that it's 13 miles from my house. I make half of what I made at R&L carriers back in 2007. Due to the geographic location of my terminal we only seem to run 300 miles a day which isn't enough to pay your bills if you're a normal person. Some of the guys at other terminals are making twice what I'm making but it's simply due to the geographic location and spacing between terminals which determines how much work you will be getting.

YRC was in financial distress and threatened the rank an file that the company would shut their doors if they wouldn't support a give back of 10% for 2 years....later lifted to 15% ....the rank and file agreed, but lo and behold (after I left) the company cried again and extended the 15% giveback for 4 more years.thats 6 years with a 15% giveback. Now here is where it gets kinda scary....the rank and file actually agreed to working 6 years and only getting paid for 5, that years salary withheld times 25,000 employees means YRC will be holding 1.5 billion with a B at the end of 2019.....enough to pay off the loans for the new equipment and maybe a nice beach somewhere for a few exec's. Don't be surprised if they have a new name in 2020.....closed.crazeydude and Mike2633 Thank this.
