you are left at the mercy of the driver bringing the relay and how accurate he/she is in eta , the load planners inputting correct info, and traffic cooperating.
TennMan Thanks this. -
Guarantee that load isn't scaled either!
TennMan and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
You don't have to talk with CS... Just call your dbl and they can track down driver location.. I do it all the time. I guess I'm nosey....TennMan Thanks this.

The load available time on relays doesn't mean squat. All it refers to is the ETA that the prior load has entered on the system. And if it's a future load that the driver hasn't even gotten to chances are they haven't changed their ETA from the stupid ETA that the system auto generates when an assignment is issued.
For example, when I booked a relay that I had to drop at Gary for another driver, I also saw the second leg of the load on the load board that was delivering to the final destination. I saw the ready time was the same as the ETA the system auto generated on my load that I was dropping at Gary.
To test it out, I went ahead and changed the ETA on my qualcom to a more accurate time. The second the system updated my ETA, I refreshed the load board and the second leg immediately changed the ready time to my new ETA. So basically the ready time is dependent upon the ETA that a driver sets on their end.
With that said, there's no guarantee that is even accurate in the first place. If there is a pick up relay load available obviously there's also a drop relay load created as well for the first leg. The ready time as showing on the system is going to default to whatever the system automatically calculates itself. There is no guarantee that the driver was able to pick up the load in the first place (maybe he was stuck somewhere and missed the appointment, who knows what happened). Maybe they couldn't find a driver for the original pickup and the system just defaulted to the assumed ready time assuming the driver did pick it up on time. Basically what I'm saying is you don't know what exactly happened for you to blame a driver or schneider for the relay not being there. And there are too many drivers for them to be closely monitoring every possible situation. Call in and find out what's the deal next time. -
hate relays that don't show up? Then always book loads at shippers
hate going on MT trailers hunts? then always do live unloads
hate waiting forever to get unloaded? then always do drop and hooks
hate cheaper rates? then pile on shorter loads
Hate shorter loads backfiring ruining your day/preplans? Then only do longer runs
There always risk no matter what you pick.
Everyday is a risk/reward kind of thing here. You never know...
Thankfully I haven't gotten burned too often but when it happens it does really suck.
As far as my recent relay issues, they were Schneider's fault.. not the drivers.
For example on one relay the relay driver scaled and was over 80k pounds, time got messed up and the load had to get reworked. Schneider decided due to the delay to have the relay driver just deliver it himself... HOWEVER they never notified me about it or updated it within the system. (even though it was supposed to be there two days before I arrived lol)
My ICA told me all this and apologized actually saying "someone didn't know what they were doing".....oh really?
My load today Schneider got "confused" and thought the shipper was gonna send out the load on the 7th when turned out it was actually the 8th.
Right when I was about to give up and have them pull all my loads off me the load showed up lol figures. I had to drive 650 miles pretty much straight through.. exactly one 30 min break and gunned it the whole way and I still might not make my next appointment.Last edited: Aug 9, 2015

Couple of weeks ago I was set to relay a load in GB. As I was just doing a student swap I called in and said I would do the live unload Monday morning so they put the second half.of.the relay on me (easier for them and.more.profitable for me that way).
As I updated my etas the preassignment didn't always reflect it. I had a 1400 Sun eta to "drop" but the load ready time was showing 1000 or some such nonsense.
I 've had the same basic scenario a couple.of times - etas on relays mean Jack squat. It may be the driver it may be the system.drvrtech77 Thanks this. -

see the point I was making is this... You complain about the relay not being there on time okay then don't book relays, then you complain about trailer Hunts then don't book drop/ hooks... See how easy that is?
I also kind of find it a little bit laughable in a way that you always seem to have problems with trailers... Now I don't know if they keep all the bad trailers up in the area that you like to run but I've never had a problem with any of the old trailers that I've pulled nor have I ever had a problem finding an empty I don't know I guess it's because the region I like to run I don't know...
