Same with Samsung in Buffalo. Acid load. You just drop the load in the hole and they do the rest and usually there was an empty to pick up...... still took 2-4 hours though.

(laughing) I guess you just can't escape PITA situations no matter what dream job you think you found! There are still humans involved in the process ;-)

I was sent to a paper mill one time to retrieve an unloaded trailer, simple hook and go or so I was told. Got there and saw that there was a still-unloading tank next to the empty I was getting, with the hoses and air lines on the ground running under my empty. I had to stop the flow, move the lines, pull out my empty, re-connect and restart the unloading on the other one, THEN take my empty out. Not so easy as it should have been.

Right! There's been a few times I'd be hung up waiting for paperwork, and found out it was the C of A we were waiting for. Shouldn't the C of A be a pretty simple thing to crank out on a product they ship millions of gallons a month? Makes me wonder if there's some frazzled chemist scrambling around in there figuring out how to fake a C of A they forgot to do. Waiting ages for standard paperwork..argggh!

Pretty much the reason why I always preferred doing fuel rather than chemicals. Only person involved for the most part is yourself.

I don't mind getting paid to watch movies on my laptop.

This. I wouldn't want to fool around with a 3" hose on the steps and the catwalk.

We have quite a few customers that supply all of the hoses and fittings for unloading. Had a place in Indiana that unloaded though a one inch hose. Usually took @ 35 hrs. Loved that demurrage.

We carry both 2 inch and 3 inch hoses on the rack. Most of our customers use their own hoses to off load. But I have been to oilfields and farms where I have had to use every hose I carried to unload. Even a couple of plants where you used 4 or all 6 hoses to reach the tank or pump.
But we get paid for it and if it takes a couple of hours so what, kick back and get paid to nap.
