LMAO! What do you do? Any info at all? I hear the bush planes make a killing up in alaska in the winter. Get a piper cub and make millions! And the answer is NO. You need to know how to run your business, to make the most money. A dispatch service can get you loads, but they will never do the best possible job.

Some people better just drive trucks and have somebody else dispatch them, there is nothing wrong with it. Not everybody is born with business and communication skills or some people just dont want to deal with paperwork. Otherwise everybody would just be independent and there would not be people leased to carriers

Well he better lease on somewhere in that case. For those that do use a dispatch service isn't gonna let somebody come in and mess up their good relationship with dispatchers taking away their attention

IMO if you don't have the skills, or at the very least ambition, to find the money and figure out how to get it you are detrimental to anyone out here that does. And really have no business in a trucking business. In what other industry do people with no business skills particular to that industry jump in headlong then outsource (because they don't have a clue and/or are too lazy to learn) the core part of what makes that business thrive or fail? If there is one I cannot think of it.

I think it is a valid question to ask, a dispatcher is a tool. I only personally know a few independents and they have their wives keeping an eye on the load boards while they drive, not much difference except all the money stays in the same bank account. Can't look at a load board all day when you're under a load and some good ones can pop up while you're driving.

I'm not so sure why so many of you think it is a poor business decision. A good people person/dispatcher could possibly increase his revenue by negotiating for better rates while he gets on to next destination.

I have met and talked with a few independent operators that only use one or two brokers that they have built strong relationships with. They were small brokerage companies, maybe something for you to look into.
