That was only one day and they included the mileage to NY from Wisconsin the day before. Which is why I said I basically worked for free that day since I was stuck in NYC traffic all day long especially since it was raining hard so everyone was driving slower which made it way worsedca Thanks this.

One morning, I left new jersey, delivered in Rhode Island picked up in Massachusetts then headed to Maine. . 465 miles.. 10 hrs in drive time.. do you ever see more then 50 miles per day in said area ?
-
Yes of course, I just came from Boston this morning and followed I95 south to Richmond VA. I was only using that one day as an example since I had multiple stops all in NYC since someone replied that the NYC loads were tough so I explained that I have done them. I am about to go to bed now cya.

Doin reefer ltl.....ive gotten to see so many of these places jus part of the job&NYC imho is the easiest of all the NE cities....cuz you just do what u gotta do.....but everytime these threads come up....people inevitably tell horror stories and im always amazed that the one town that rarely if ever comes up is Nawlins.....which makes lower Manhatten seem like a big quiet well built industrial park....lmao

I'd like to know how you come to the conclusion of "you guys grab whatever pays more and buy the cheapest quality without realizing you'll work harder and pay more in the end and I'll be relaxed with good reliable equipment"
You seem to have this game figured out. Why aren't you in your own truck yet making the big bucks? -
There was a truck that was stuck all day and night on the cable divider on I-49 the other night because a 4-wheeler cut him off trying to get to the exit. Not the truckers fault, but his rig was sitting on top of the cable shredded, the 4 X 4 PU had exploded into flames, the reefer was turned over and it was a big mess. I bet that driver would have rather wasted a day in NYC vs. that. We all have wasted days, and we all hope that our wasted days don't end up like the driver that I was describing. Be safe out there, it is getting worse and worse each and every day.

Your company is not making any money if you're stuck in traffic .
If your dispatcher is doing his/her job like i like to do mine , he already had a reload for you.
Your dispatcher had to call the broker to tell him you're stuck in traffic so you're not going to make the delivery as soon as he thought you will plus, he had to cancel your reload and start looking for another one.
The dispatcher is not your enemy like you seem to believe .
Small runs are paid pretty good and if your dispatcher didn't had to many options is pretty hard to pass up an opportunity to make some money for a short run while he's searching for a better load for you.
We're not trying to make your job harder than it is . When we're negotiating a load all we have is the town. When you have the rate confirmation you get the actual address.
When I dispatch my drivers they tell me how hard or easy will be to do the run . They know better than me that they need more than x hours if they have to go through Chicago,ST Paul at a certain hours and they tell me if i need to change the delivery appointment for a later one or not.
I am not complaining but when there's 150 trucks available and only 50 loads on the board your dispatcher is not thinking about how easy is to get in and out of a dock. He's/She's thinking about you waiting for 1-3 hours to get a load. -
