I use it every time I unload my trailer. I pull a frame dump. When the load starts pushing you forward ease off the handle and let it slide out.

I do a lot of drop and hooks, and I usually pull a different trailer every day. I use mine during my trailer inspection to make sure the trailer service brakes are working properly. Sometimes they aren't, and you don't want to find that out when someone pulls in front of you while loaded on a downgrade.

I used it going down mountains ocassionaly.
Always felt I had more precise of an easy brake. Learned the technique from a tow driver that regularly went down the big hill by Medford Oregon.

Hence why the engine brake is in the same spot on automatics.

When you are a O/O for a large carrier like I was, it is fairly common to pick up some "paper load" on some old POS trailer. If I felt the trailer shoving my tractor under braking, I abused the hell out of the trolley brake going down grades some times. I wasn't about to wear out my stuff for a neglected trailer. Jake brakes can only help so much.

I've only found the engine brake in a similar location on Volvos with the I-Shift transmission.

Nice. So you overheat your trailer brakes, and compromise safety when an emergency arises. When you REALLY need to come to a stop on that downgrade, your trailer brakes will have faded into oblivion.

Yeah suppose I should have mentioned:

Well I went from a kenworth 660 to a cascadia evo with the automated.

    Trolley in the kW
    Engine brake in the cascadia

The trolley was a fire alarm pull down style on the dash in the cascadia. Really inconvenient. It didn't even hold position you had to your GPS or a bag of groceries for checks and going thru customs.
