One of the first lessons I learned about driving a truck was taught to me on the WV Turnpike, and this was back before it was 4 lane on the southern end. A driver told me to always drive where you feel comfortable at. Don't worry about what others say to you or about you. I may feel comfortable driving up I-95, or I-85 at 55-58 mph, where if I was on I-80 in Nebraska I would feel comfortable at 70.

Solution, don't crash!

Never has been about fuel milage. The companies I drove for that had 55mph trucks we were lucky to get 4 mpg. It is all about insurance.

They should have taught their drivers how to shiftnofreetime, darthanubis and CasanovaCruiser Thank this.

Again larger companies are self insured. Going faster makes more aerodynamic, mechanical, and frictional resistance and thus takes more energy.
