And the smart man will be in position to take advantage of it.

Ouch, hope you get back on the road soon.

Truck is running great with the new engine -- I definitely notice more power, though the mpg still isn't quite what it used to be (mid 8's instead of low 9's). Perhaps worn/low compression has less drag on the engine and isn't a hindrance at low power demands? Or perhaps I'll regain mpg after the first overhead.

That peaky oil leak seems to have all but gone away, but I seem to have a magical dipstick. One day it'll read full, the next day it'll read at the bottom of the cross hatch, the day after it'll be full again. Level ground, engine off for at least 15 minutes, I'm perplexed...

Could the pressure regulator butterfly valve be sticking open sometimes, not letting the oil run back down into the pan? It's just a guess, but about the only thing I can think of to cause your problem.

If you think 08"wasn't to bad" the 90s would of made you think you'd died and gone to heaven. But I doubt we will ever see those days again.

the rates I was getting running producenin 08 was a good thirty percent less than just a few years prior.

It's not just that there's not as much freight going to the oilfields, a ton of trucks that were running in the patch hauling frack sand, water and such have come back into the open freight market. Until they get settled in and find their niches, there's going to be a lot of pressure on prices.

Good one, Accidental. Kinda puts some bright light on the "driver shortage," I'd say.

I've been getting badly burned by brokers verbally promising TONU or detention and then balking whenever I ask for something in writing. So after looking around at what mega carriers are charging for accessorials, I decided to make an accessorial sheet of my own. If it looks somewhat familiar, I modeled it after one posted in the facebook RPMM group...

I have not used it yet, but there are 4 unscrupulous brokerages whose freight I will no longer haul until they sign it... Of course that may change if I starve for the next few months, but right now I'm sick and tired of bearing the full cost for everyone elses' screwups...

They won't sign it. They will say it has to go to legal and in the meantime they will have to give the load away.

You need one of these instead
