I'm an "experienced driver" starting with Schneider on Monday with the southeast regional route, and was looking to get some info. I'm headed to Atlanta for orientation, which I was told would be 3-4 days. I was told i could drive my own vehicle there since I'm only in Alabama, and then back home after orientation. They would then get me a rental car to an OC since they rarely have trucks in GA.

Can anyone inform me on the orientation process for that OC..what kinda trucks they have, condition of trucks.. practical area I would run (told east of Mississippi River and no farther north than Pennsylvania).. and hometime (told 5 on 2 off)

I don't know anything about working for Schneider, but if you're going to orientation at the terminal on Bouldercrest Rd in ATL I'd recommend locking the doors on your car. I'd get a motel room in a different part of town too.

Thats what's known as Zone 6 in Atlanta, not really concerned with the neighborhood or anything. Which it is bad, but the least of my worries at this time... I've been over there plenty of times and nothing has ever happened.

I would like to know about this too, I'm in MS and have seen the ads about this everywhere.

They put you up in a hotel NOT in the area of the terminal LOL. You'd park your car at the hotel and ride a shuttle to the terminal (guess you could drive there if you wanted). I know they changed hotels since I last stayed in the area but the old hotel is in the Stockbridge area. I think the new one is in the same area.

Yeah you're right, the hotel is in Stockbridge, pretty good area... stayed there when I was in training for Swift.

Yeah the hotel they put you up in (unless it's changed) is in a decent area... had no issues when I was there for a 34 once while my truck was being repaired.

If your southeast regional expect the north east to be your new buddy.

Recruiter told me the farthest north I'm going is Pennsylvania, which I'm not gullible and know they'll tell me anything just to try to get me in there, but is that about right or no?
