My name is William Gardoski; I am 70 years old, and an amputee. Right leg below the knee. This was due to a change in my blood chemistry which changed to a propensity to clot. This is regulated with Warfarin. I have NO health issues, in any other way.
I drove solo for May and before that, Willis Shaw, from the tip of Maine, to So California, and every where in between. No tickets, no issues. I was driving for May in 1992 when the leg issues came up, and I surrendered my CDL in 1993, thinking I would never need it again.
My wife and I are both retired and on SS, and I desperately need to return to work to supplement our income. I live in Meridian Idaho, and have owned a home there since 1991; I have 3 children, boys all grown, and have been married for 39 years. I am stable, considerate, and mature.
I have a perfect driving record; I had a moving violation in 1979 on Whidbey Island for 10mph over. That was my only ticket ever.
I have NEVER used any drugs; I have an occasional beer, and am a safe driver in every way. I took my CDL road test at Arlo Lott’s yard in Jerome Idaho, given by Cole Prestwich, and have my SPE Certificate given by Idaho DOT examiner Robert Swanson. I have a doubles/triples endorsement. I have my DOT physical, and passed it with NO issues. I am at this time only certified to drive a tractor with an automatic transmission, but am working with my son who has a 13 speed KW to get certified for a manual transmission.
I cannot carry or lift heavy weights or carry for a long time (loading, unloading) and at my age, I do not want to be on the road day after day week after week, and am seeking occasional and relief driving.
If in any way you can help, please contact me at

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Mr. Gardoski,
There is also another possible solution to your situation. You may want to try applying for a bus driver's job with the company shown below, Valley Regional Transit DBA ValleyRide.
You would be home every night and there is no handling of cargo or freight at all.
You would probably need to get an endorsement for passengers on your CDL.
Good luck to you.
God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

Mr. Gardoski,
Here is another possible suggestion since you mentioned that you have your endorsements for both doubles and triples, shown below:
Navajo Express
(Toll Free) 800-525-1969
303-287-3800
Corporate Headquarters
1400 W 64th Ave, Denver, CO 80221
There is a driver fleet that Navajo has; pulling Rocky mountain doubles to Costco in Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Colorado.
This may be worth looking into.
Good luck to you.

Thanks for your reply to my thread. And your advice. Couldn't work around the Kids, or a bus. Rode the bus a couple of times and don't think I could deal with all the people on a daily basis.
